Raven girl portrait, Star Kitty cartoon art, and a March Sale!

Well, hello there! I know it's been awhile since my last post- my trip to the south was wonderful, relaxing, and has set me back about a week and a half! Eventually I will get caught up again...right? Sure, sure I will. But for now I have two new pieces to share and a sale to tell you about! :)

First, the sale info! From now (3/8) until 3/16, I am offering 15% off all orders placed through either (or both) of my etsy shops! All you have to do is use the code IDES15 at checkout to receive the discount. This code will work in conjunction with my 4 x 6 art print sale (buy 2, get 1 free) as well, so that's quite a deal! I hope you have an opportunity to get in on the sale!

Now, onward to new art!! I have two brand new pieces to share, the first being "Inner Bird 1". She is a self-likeness; I cannot call her a portrait, really, as she doesn't look like me...I am rather pleased with how she turned out! "Inner Bird 1" is an original acrylic painting on a 9" x 12" sheet of artist canvas. You can see more pictures and read more info on the art and my process at the listing link- she is available for purchase there as well, but because it is my etsy shop, she is on sale! Don't forget the code: IDES15...

Take heed- a new monster! This one is a kitteh!!!!! I know, not exactly monster like in appearance, per se, but kitties can be quite monstrous in behavior and action... The name of this piece is "Star Kitty"- a bright beacon of cuteness in the vast
cold and dark outer space. This kitty is a mixed media creation, and measures 5" x 7" on masonite. He is Available for purchase in my zombietoes etsy shop (which means also on sale!) at the link below the picture:

For those of you who are looking for my eBay art listings, they are HERE! Lots of ACEO prints- some never-before-released! Also, some originals up for auction, and 4" x 6" prints as well!

So, I am a teensy bit behind on my Dorkling comic, but I am hoping to get a new comic posted by the weekend :) I am also in the midst of a series of zodiac monsters- they will be very similar to the monsters I have been creating recently- fun, mixed media pieces Masonite. Hopefully, I will have the wherewithal to post some work in progress photos. I am finding myself wondering, again, why I always bite off more than I can chew. And...that is about all I have for tonight! Someone out there, please get some rest for me !

Two Cute Monsters and a book-themed Pin Up Original, plus important order info for next week!

Well hi!

So...I have three brand new pieces! I know, right after I say I am going to slow my creative process for Darkling Treasures ;| I just needed some good ART time, so I X-ed out all of Tuesday and just MADE STUFF. This stuff is mad lowbrow and adorable, plus I finished up one of my pin up paintings!
All three of these new pieces are listed for auction- on my Darkling Treasures Facebook Page! This is because I am going out of town for most of next week, and will have much more control over my auctions this way. So, let me show off the new art, then:

"Bookish" is the pin up painting I recently finished up- I really like how she turned out! She is an art nouveau inspired acrylic painting, 5" x 7" on a canvas panel. She is up for auction via my Darkling Treasures FB Page at the link below the picture- you can read all the auction information, and get specifics on the art, and perhaps even place a bid- starts at $20:

"Bookish" original pin up fantasy painting- Facebook Exclusive auction

Now...monsters! I am probably waay too into these little guys. What can I say? They make me smile, I love cartoons, they suit my lowbrow lifestyle, and...wait, I don't have to justify anything! haha! ANyhow, meet "Fenton"- he is an original 5" x 7" mixed media monster! A little firebug, at that :) You can see all the auction and art details at the link below the picture (it will take you to my Darkling Treasures FB Page)- bidding starts at $20:

"Fenton" firebug lowbrow mixed media monster art auction

Now, this little monster is named "Mish"- he is a hybrid jellyfish-bird-rabbit, and he is very sentimental to me, so I am kind of having a hard time putting him up for sale. FYI. He is also and original 5" x 7" mixed media piece; all the info about the art and the auction can be found at the link below his picture- bidding for "Mish" starts at $20:

These three Facebook auctions will run until Friday, February 24th at 11pm EST. I will be home then to end them and get them sent out to their new homes, should they find them :)

This leads me into ordering information for the next week...I will be visiting family in Georgia from 2-19 to 2-23, and will be away from my studio/stockpiles/printer/stamps and envelopes...thus unable to ship anything out until my return. For current outstanding orders: all eBay auctions (I believe) will end before I leave, so if you win something(s) and would like me to ship out your art before I go, payments MUST be made by, mmm, like 8pm EST this Saturday! This way I can get everything packaged and drop them in a mailbox on my way to the airport. Both of my etsy shops will go into vacation mode on Saturday evening until I return, and the listings wont show up. As for my website, orders will be filled and shipped upon my return. I should be around a computer on and off during my trip, so I will be able to check in, possibly answer emails, maybe post some stuff...But mostly I will be on break.

Okay, I think that is all for now. I am freakin tired! OH! Before I go, may I remind you to drop by my Dorkling blog, as there is a new comic up! Also, I have updated the blog with some of the older comics, and will continue to do so over the next weeks :) Go HERE for the comic: Dorkling blog

"Gypsy" fairy painting, NEW T Shirts, Zombie FB auction, + VERY IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD READ!

Greetings all!

I have kind of a long ramble to get to, but I also have some new art and stuff to share, so I will do that first :)

A brand new painting for you!! I feel like it's been forever since I have painted an actual fairy, but I've got a pretty one for ya! Her name is "Gypsy"- She is an art nouveau and moth inspired fae, with brilliant red hair and a slightly pouty demeanor. "Gypsy" is an ORIGINAL 5" x 7" acrylic painting on a canvas panel- she is currently up for auction on eBay with a starting bid of $20. To see the listing, more pictures, more info on the art, and perhaps even place a bid to own the painting, please visit the link below her picture:

"Gypsy" original fairy fantasy painting

Of course, there are a whole bunch of other art auctions running on eBay- this week I am listing a TON of open edition 4" x 6" art prints for $3 starting bids on each! I will have you know that ALL of my prints are signed, open edition or not :) If you'd like to see all the art I have on eBay at the moment, just click HERE!

Now, I have added a few new items to my poor, neglected Zazzle shop- mainly little magnets of my older mixed media fantasy artworks. I have also listed a brand new T shirt design, featuring my (personal favorite) "Clap Hands" pin up illustration. She is available on lots of assorted colors and styles of shirt, your choice! Even long sleeves :) Check out the new T shirt at the link below the picture:

"Clap Hands" circus pin up shirts

and all the other stuff is here: Fun and New Zazzle Items!

I want one of those t shirts. I will have one. Soon ;} Maybe I'll get a tank top this time....

Okay, ZOMBIE TIME WOO WOO! I have put up a new Facebook Exclusive Auction on my Darkling Treasures art page; a small collection of zombie goodies, all made by me of course! This is a decent hoard of stuff- limerick books, prints, bookmark, etc...You can read all about what's in this auction and how to bid by following the link below the picture:

FB exclusive ZOMBIE COLLECTION auction

This auction starts at $0, and ends next Monday, Feb 13th at 11pm EST. Get your bidding shoes on!

So...Here are the VERY IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD READ :)

As you may or may not have noticed, I've been a little quieter than usual lately. This is not actually the case, I have actually been very loud all over the place, just not so much here in 'fantasyland'. My focus seems to be shifting a great deal in another direction, which I kind of saw coming awhile back, and perhaps a few of you also saw. I am crazily switching gears in my art life, and am going to be putting a lot more time into the comic side of things. I cannot deny the muses, and they are really *not* subtle when they want something.

So, I will be spending a good portion of my studio time working on my zombietoes creations and my Dorkling comic and sub-projects (yeah there's a lot going on). Cartoons make me happy, and I am *disgustingly productive* when I am happy, and that makes me happier. It's a viciously happy cycle. (gross). I am totally being selfish in this, I will admit it, but hopefully it is not without its entertainment.

For those of you concerned about what is going to happen with my fantasy art and Darkling Treasures, fret not! I will still be making time to create new snapshots of my crazy inner worlds and stories :) I am scaling back, however, and likely will not be producing more than 4 new originals a month. All eBay auctions will 100% continue as normal, but you can expect some streamlining of my etsy shops. Nothing major. I am still working on the website *sigh*. I have decided that there is just far too much art to deal with, so I will be retiring a bunch of pieces from print. I have not decided on which ones yet, so if there are ones you'd like to see stay, you are more than welcome to email me and let me know! The input would be nice :)

So, that's about it for now. Please feel free to follow the link below to check out my Dorkling comic and stuff!

"Soft" Art Nouveau painting, "Suite" jester painting 1/2 price auction, + "Strangeworlds" books commission work!

Hi Hi!

Another short-ish post this week...still trying to finagle my schedule to a more suitable timeline. The more work I put into streamlining, the more I realize that I need to stop biting off more than I can chew. This is a recurring problem in my life. :\

ANYHOO...I have a brand new art nouveau painting for you this week, plus an older original painting listed at a very reasonable price on eBay! I also have news on recent commission work!

So, onto art then! I have a brand new pretty lady to share! "Soft" is an original art nouveau pin up painting- a pretty blond thing, in blue (I love the color combo in this piece!). A small painting- 5" x 7", created in acrylics on a canvas panel, and up for auction on eBay now (starting bid of $20!) Please visit the link below her picture for all the info!

"Soft" original art nouveau pin up painting

I have also listed my original "Suite" jester painting on eBay, with a half price starting bid! This is one of my larger pieces- 16" x 20" (acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas). This is one of my favorite images, and I have reworked it numerous times in pencil and pen over the years. A similar version of this piece was used for the cover art of my "Emrotica" zine (volume 2). If you have a moment, please check out the auction listing!

"Suite" harlequin jester original painting

And don't miss out on all the other awesome art auctions I'm running: HERE on eBay!

This past autumn, I was working on a LOT of commission pieces- many for the "Zombie Soup" book by Dennis Armstrong, but also two for another book! "Strangeworlds" is a fantasy novel written by Donald Saxman- it is based from an RPG he and some others designed years ago. I should not say fantasy, I suppose, as there is certainly a heavy sci-fi influence to them as well. The first 5 books are now out and available on Kindle reading devices! They are chock full of pictures by myself and some other artists as well- the two illustrations for these books that I created:

To read more about "Strangeworlds", do check out Donald's website:

So, that is it for the time being. Lots more exciting things to come! Hopefully that includes a little bit of extra focus for me haha!

Mermaid Montage- Nya original painting + FB auction, plus a NEW COMIC!!

Happy Weekend all!

Well, I am going to try to keep this post on the short side...I think it might be time for me to start thinking about more than one post a week again. Too much stuff going on over here! For instance, this round I have a bunch of mermaid art and a new comic (always a new comic!!)

Very first- a brand new original painting! This piece was created in an art nouveau style, in acrylic paints on a canvas panel. "Nya" is 5" x 7", signed, sealed, wired, and ready to hang (or frame!)...Bidding (on eBay) for this original painting starts at $20; you can see all the detail pictures and information about the art at the link:

"Nya" original art nouveau mermaid painting

Of course I have a slew of other eBay art auctions running- ACEO prints from $2, and lots of originals too! You can see everything on one page HERE!

Continuing with mermaids...I have put up another FB exclusive auction! This auction is for a set of mermaid goodies- there are some hand sewn felt mermaid dolls, paper scrapping tags, an original ACEO, a bookmark, even a necklace! All in one! If you are a mermaid fan, well, you do not want to miss out on this! To see the auction info and rules, and to place a bid, please refer to the link below the picture for all that information!

Darkling Treasures FB exclusive auction- mermaid set!

Bidding started at $0, but I believe the auction is currently sitting at $7.50- ends Monday night!!

Now- COMIC TIME! I don't know if anyone else gets excited like I do about comic time, b ut I am loving it more and more. This weeks new one can be found at the link:

Em's Newest Comic

I have been thinking a bit on a) giving this comic a title (current working title is 'Dorkling'; I have yet to come up with something more fitting) and B) getting these and other comics to book form of some kind, at some point. I have a layout for a mini comic book, in the same small, self printed, hand bound style as my Zombie Limerick Books...I just need to get inking on that :) Yes, lots going on, much of it behind the scenes and in my head hahaha! Of course, there are a few real life people I need to talk with before I actually do this...but...I think this year will be focused around humor and laughing...because life is too damn short and we should all be afforded a little joking around and horseplay from time to time. In my case, all the freakin time.

Art: "Flip"/ Comic: new/ Book: Zombie Soup/ Video: yay!/ Update: quick

Oh my gosh, I have so much to tell you!! And seriously, all this happened at once, like it tends to do, I wasn't even slacking on posting (well, okay, maybe for a *day* I slacked). New art, a new comic, a BOOK!! Plus other awesome stuff!

As always, I will begin with the new art- "Flip". She is a brand new original painting, (5" x 7" acrylic on canvas panel)...a pretty brunette in purple lingerie, in a sort of art nouveau style..."Flip" is listed for auction on eBay, with a starting bid of $20! To see more pictures, read about the art, and perhaps even place a bid on her, please follow the link below the picture:

"Flip" original art nouveau pin up painting

It is NEW COMIC TIME! This new one is not colored in, but mostly because it is night. It's about me getting up at the ungodly hour that I do, and how on some days, it is not that easy. (usually it is pretty easy). You can view the latest comic on my facebook page at the link below- be warned, there are some swear words in this one.

Em's newest super awesome comic!!

Okay...Book news!! Yes, a book! Over the summer I was working on a bunch of illustrations and a cover piece for Dennis Armstrong's Zombie SOup book, and it is now in print and available for purchase!! Very exciting, and especially so because there are ZOMBIES!! You can learn more about the book, read excerpts and see some illustrations, and even purchase a copy for yourself on Dennis's website: Zombie Soup on Cupcake Press

Here is a little thumbnail of the front cover art- you can see the full (and larger) versions at the book link above!

One of my very good friends got me a webcam for my birthday, so I have set up a live stream feed of my studio desk!! It is not on all the time, only when I am working on things that require sitting still (which is not all that often lately). Mondays and Wednesdays are your best bet to catch me in action, or even Tuesday afternoons perhaps? I cannot predict the muse very well these days I am afraid. But I will be sure to post on my FB page when I am streaming :) Here is the link; bookmark it!

Watch Em Draw- live!

Now...A quick update on a few things...For one thing, I have raised the starting price of my ACEO art prints (on eBay) from 99 cents to $2. I know, I know, I feel bad and I am sorry to have to do this, but it is time. :\ They are beautiful, quality prints that will last a lifetime, even as small as they are, and are certainly worth $2 if not more. So it is done. I have also reworked my commission prices (and size options) as well, and will open up commissions again (with the new prices) when I unveil my new website look- so probably not for awhile yet. Because I am still plotting and planning, taking notes, doodling little pictures, and gathering, always with the gathering...for a big project! Which I will be sure to post more about as it goes along :)

Two new arts- a clown and a circus lady, So Dangerous nude for auction, and the weekly COMIC!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I vegged out and did nothing, it was awesome and much needed. I do have a bit of new art to share, and a new comic too!

Still on a clown kick, I am apologizing to anyone who has an issue with this. I can't help myself, I must do as the muses tell me. The latest clown illustration is titled "Raining Parade". I don't think this one needs too much explanation, really, it's more of a "how does this make you feel" piece. I will state that if you read the previous line with a silly muppet-esque voice, it will be closest to my intention. Do not take me too seriously; I certainly don't! Haha. Anyhoo..."Raining Parade" is an original 7" x 5" clown illustration, created in archival inks and pencils on canvas paper. You can see/read more details at the auction link- he is listed on eBay with a starting bid of $10:

"Raining Parade" Original Clown illustration

I also have another new illustration listed for auction- she is titled "Clap Hands"- a bright, circus-y piece. Created in archival inks and pencils on canvas paper (5" x 7"), she is listed for auction with a $10 starting bid! To see more, and perhaps even make a bid to give her a new home, please visit the link below the picture:

"Clap Hands" original circus pin up illustration

In another (or shall I say ongoing) attempt to make a bit more space on my studio walls, I have listed my original nude "So Dangerous" painting for auction. She is a green haired vixen, and looks innocent enough I suppose, but the sketchy great white shark and his dynamite are telling another story...She has a starting bid of $105 (regular price is $200, so this is a great deal!) and you can see all the pictures and info at the listing link below her picture:

"So Dangerous" original nude surreal painting

ANNNDDD NOW...New comic! Here is the link to the newest on my Facebook page:

Em's newest comic! Funny! Probably inappropriate! You love it, you know you do!

So that's all for art stuff, now I am going to ramble at you until your face falls off! hahahaha! Leave now if you don't want to read all this. ;)

Kay, so it's a new year. I haz bean thinkin' lots about things and stuff. Not just now, but for a long time...I've been plotting things, see? I am still in plotting mode, so I do not want to really get into details. But I do want to mention some things that will be changing a little bit in the near future...don't worry, change is good! :)
For one thing, I will be raising my prices a teesy eensy bit. Mostly on the originals, because I am grossly undercharging. I am not quite sure when the price change will go into effect, but I will let you know when it gets close. Also, when I do open commissions again, those prices will be going up. Not a lot, just a little :) Trying to be a tad more organized and a tad less hard on myself, so I am setting up a reduced creation/listing schedule for originals- I will have between 4 and 8 new pieces a month. This may sound like a lot to some of you, but for me it is next to nothing; it does frighten me a bit to scale back this much. But I need to make time to get these other things moving. Not to mention my poor, neglected website! Well, seemingly neglected, I have been working on it off and on for the past few months (shame!) and eventually will unveil the new look :) I think mostly what is holding me up is writing a new and halfway decent artist statement. I change my mind and my art so frequently, it just seems futile to try to harness my life and my passion in so many words. Maybe I should just write that. Maybe it's too 'frou-frou-I'm-an-artiste-I-can-do-whatever-I-so-please'...gah! see what I mean? I need halp. I think I will also cease ramble now.
