Well, I skipped last week's post entirely...:\ Got all distracted with things and stuff, you know, the usual...But I have new (and very special) art to share today! The Nurse Mermaid piece I have been talking about has been completed and listed for auction, plus I have some cute monster wallets I sewed up last week! AND MORE PILLOWS!! :D

I will start with the mermaid piece- She is titled "Nurse Mermaid" and is shown here caring for two nurse sharks! I created this piece specifically to auction off for a donation to my dear friend Becca, who had some recent and unexpected financial issues (health related). I love her SO MUCH and unfortunately am in no position other than auctioning off art to help her. And sending her lots of love and support, of course! NOW...Awhile back I posted some pictures of the Monster Bag I made for myself...and I LOVE IT SO MUCH! It is holding up really well (and trust me, I USE my bags), and also getting a lot of comments...so I decided to make up a few small wallet versions to offer to you! There are three right now- a red one, a blue one, and a purple one, and they are SO ADORABLE!! Top zipper closure, fun inside linings, credit card pockets, a little pocket for change... Something else I have been working on, and have finally finished- my bag! I guess it's a 'purse' or whatever lady-type item is relative to this shape and size of carrying apparatus...but I am hardly a 'purse' type. I didn't know if you could tell that by the way I tried to disguise it as an awesome red monster...because carrying around a pet red monster is so much less weird to me than carrying around a purse. (Don't judge me).So...anyhoo, pictures of my new fashion accessory:





Half considering making a few smaller/assorted versions and/or change pouches to list one of my etsy shops, but I do have a million other meals rotting on my plate at the moment. :\ Such as- some series projects for my zombietoes etsy shop which no one will probably even care about, but they thrill and entertain ME, and that's all I really care about, in the end. I mean, at least...that's the purpose behind my zombietoes shop. That's all me, pull no punches, sugar no lies, hide no stains. I probably just said too much there. Oh well. So, yeah, there's that cryptic-ness, and then I have *no earthly idea* what I am doing about my website. I haven't even updated it since last June. That's right, JUNE 2011. Pathetic. There's too much art, and it's extremely overwhelming. I am really going to cut back a lot. I really need to get on that. I'm ashamed and quite embarrassed, really. It's reminiscent of the stuff you put in your attic, because you want to 'save' it, but you don't have a reason for doing so. Gah! I don't even know what I am say, I'm just rambling now. The breakdown seems to be- me needy do spring cleany! Ahhh...Okay, that is all. You may resume your lives, though they may be a touch weirder now...

Take heed- a new monster! This one is a kitteh!!!!! I know, not exactly monster like in appearance, per se, but kitties can be quite monstrous in behavior and action... The name of this piece is "Star Kitty"- a bright beacon of cuteness in the vast

The View From November fantasy painting, Zombie art auction, Website Updates, + Happy Thanksgiving!

Holy crap...

I've been staring at this stupid computer screen nearly all day, I can barely take it anymore! LOL! But I wanted to leave you all with a blog post before the holiday ;) Besides, I have a brand new painting to show off, and a special zombie original painting auction, too! And, as you may have surmised form the title of this post, plus my crabbing, I have also managed to update my website...


So, this latest painting is part of my "Little Things" series (yeah, I broke down and just decided to call it that, harumph.) This piece is "The View From November" and features a beautiful dark haired lady with a monocle-type device...a tiny owl is nestled on her hair comb, and the bare November trees are wailing...I really love this piece, I hope she finds a good home! This is an original 8" x 10" acrylic painting on a canvas panel; wire hanger on the back. Good evening all!

So...I pretty much did eff-all this week. Okay, that is not true, but as far as art goes, I didn't make a whole heck of a lot. Been getting the gardens ready for winter, potting plants for indoors, working, filling orders, and trying not to fall asleep too early...Most nights I don't succeed at that last one.

I had a blast at the zombie pub crawl :) Got wasted and met a lot of zombies! I will have some pictures soon(ish) to share...But, seriously, this is why I don't go out all that often- because I have waaay too much fun, then it takes me two days or so to get back all my energy and bearings. So...I don't think I will be going out for Halloween. I will be working and then working some more.

Alrighty then...First on the zombie menu, some art (yay)! I have listed some new grossness in my zombietoes etsy shop...A one of a kind, hand sculpted Deathbox, complete with two little zombie magnets inside! This Deathbox is the second one I've ever made. They are pseudo- necronomiconesque, with the stretched faces, real stitching, and subtle painted accents...totally disgusting. I love them! Yes, just a short post tonight. I spent a solid 5 hours on a commission today, from start to finish, and I am kinda worn out and want to veg out in front of the tv and not think. Earlier today I was thinking about going through some of my supplies and selling some things as destash through my etsy shop, but I will have to go through them before I even know what I can part with. I think I will be getting myself deep into one of my larger projects soon, and I am preparing for that by making a whole bunch of ACEOs to have on hand for listing. Trying to get as downsized, prepared, and organized with things to do before winter really hits, and I am left scrambling, lost, and trapped in my studio....Which is really not the worst place to be. ;) But, now, I am off to relax! I have two new original ACEOs to share tonight, and another feature! Not a lot of bulk tonight, as I am almost finished with the painting of "Dremon 3" and want to get her finished up and myself into bed at a reasonable hour...(someone was running a little late this morning, didn't have time for her morning coffee, and was a little behind the ball all day...)

Okay, this first painting is one I painted earlier in the year, and had listed in my darklingemily etsy shop...Now, the original painting of "Dusk" is available for auction on eBay- starting bid is only $15! Ah, I have been such a slacker with my blog lately. Please accept my apologies, and know that I am still creating, even if i am not posting a lot :)

Anyway, enough blabber. I have a few new pieces to share tonight, along with some 99 cent ACEO auctions, and a nifty zombie binder...


So, first, the new art! I have been working on and off on this piece for over a week now...It's taken me virtually forever to get her done! I'm not used to taking so long on one piece, but I think she came out splendidly...
"Psychopomps" is an original 5" x 7" illustration, in acrylic paints and inks, featuring a lovely angel winged fairy and a bunch of sparrows. The title is a greek word meaning "soul guide", and sparrows happen to be one of the specific animals that help guide peoples' souls from one plane of existence to another...

What else...Oh, yes! A new product from me, through my Zazzle shop! BINDERS!! YaY! As it is nearly time for school again, I thought I'd better hop on the binder band wagon and get some made up! I have a few options to choose from- two different zombie binders, and a dragon binder! And a reminder, as it is almost August 15th...and on the 15th, I will be holding my 15% off all orders sale, in my darklingemily etsy shop! As usual, if you purchase anything on the 15th, please wait for me to invoice you with the 15% off discount...I only do it this way, because it saves me the trouble of having to change all my prices for one day...I may extend this sale to my zombietoes shop as well, and I will be sure to let you all know!


As for projects, I am in the mode of getting my zombie compilation book formatted- there are a few final touches on illustrations that need to be completed, but...hopefully I will have this baby ready to rock out before Halloween! The original deadline (yes, I do set deadlines for myself LOL!) was end of August; however, I have been at work (at my "real" job) A LOT and haven't had all the time I thought I would...But, such is life. :) I am also working on a new series of ACEOs, which may not be released until my Circus & Side Show series is complete (which may actually be the end of this month)...But, this new series is based off of one of my recent ACEOs, "Too Tired to Fly"...Here is a pic of her:




Each ACEO in the new series will have a beautiful woman and a dragon. I have them all sketched out in pencil, waiting for ink and paint :) But, first I must complete my other series LOL!! Not to mention my jester series (which is ongoing) and my poor, neglected dragon zodiac series...:( So...I suppose I better get back to the grind!

Good news for all you zombie lovers who have been patiently waiting for something new on the living dead art front- I have listed two brand new Zombie Ink Blot art prints in my zombietoes etsy shop! I am also hard at work on the latest little books of zombie limericks; I am at the point of illustration and a bit of editing...I have not decided if I am going to release them as individual volumes, or if I will just go ahead and begn work on the compilation book...But I will keep you all posted. hmmm...what else...Oh! Well, I should inform you all that I have taken on a dinky part time job, on top of my first dinky part time job as a gardener, so now, magically, I am working full time on top of making art to share! This was a necessary evil, and I feel obliged to warn you that I may not be cranking out the art as fast as I was previously. I just didn't want anyone to worry about where I have gone to :) I think for now, my new art will be on the small side, mostly ACEOs and 5" x 7" illustrations, with a few larger paintings speckled in here and there when I have the time. Of course, there is always art up in both my darklingemily etsy shop and my zombietoes etsy shop to look at and purchase, and I will remain open to commissions as well. Also, this should not affect shipping in any way, and you will receive your orders as promptly as ever :)


With all the craziness, and also having a major side project in the works, I have yet to update my website galleries and news :( I am going to try *really* hard to get that done, as I have not updated since April! And the more time that goes by, the more art I have to add, making the process even more time consuming...Shame on me! Shame! At any rate, I had best be off :)
