Well, I feel like it's been a long time since I've updated- May got away from me with other projects! However, there is NEW art in this post, and I have been diligently working on my latest painting- a rework of "Pris"- and I do have a few work in progress photos for you to check out!
This post is mainly about some new happenings on the Darkling Treasures Website!
First of all, I have created a new gallery for all my 2013 works- It's so much easier for me to keep everything straight this way! There is a tab for it on the website main menu, but if you want to hop over there now and take a peek, here is the link:

Okay, ART TIME!! I've been doodling in between projects, as my hands tend to find trouble if they are not busy! This is a brand new nude illustration, in inks on bristol...and she's a gorgeous girl! I have titled her "The Wait"- she's even got a little Ralphie tattoo! "The Wait" is an 8.5" x 11" piece, and she is currently up for auction on eBay at the link below her picture:

Now, how about some work in progress pictures of my latest? This is a reworking of my original portrait illustration of my friend Pris! Lovely, beautiful, magical creature that she is, an inspiration and a light...Here's what I've got done so far:
She's slowly nearing completion, in between a few other pieces, and lots and lots more website work...which I just *love* soooo much (sarcasm). Of course, it will be easier to keep it more current now that I have forced myself to slow down with making tons of art!

Of course, I worked all weekend, as usual, but I still managed to pull some art out of the air ;) I have some fancy-schmancy iPhone cases, two new ACEOs, and news about my latest Facebook GIVEAWAY! Plus some other goodies ;)

I am still working on my Red Velvet Cake pin up jester. She is nearly complete, and I may just finish her up tonight after I get all my computer work done...Though, I do have a few new work in progress pictures up in my Facebook album HERE if you are curious ;) She's very pretty! And I think the next jester will be a candy apple themed piece...I just absolutely love apples. Delish.
n other news, I've been having numerous creative epiphanies...It's all I can do to get them written down until I have the time to sort through them, edit, decide whether or not they are worthy of my time, and get them moving...A lot of them are rather involved projects, and since I am already working on one of those, the others will have to just live in my journals until I can get to them. Such is the paradox of being an artist...When you have the time, often the ideas are fleeting. When you have no time, they tumble down on you like there are a bunch of angry squirrels shaking the acorns out of the trees.
This is why I wrote everything down now ;) So, even if there is not any perceptible inspiration, I still have plenty of ideas... Here are a few things that are brewing in my brain:
- stationery sets
- hardcover journals and day planners featuring my art
- another FB giveaway
- a vehicle for my circus & side show series...short stories? I dunno...
So, yes, though I have been quiet online lately, I am still my crazy self, cooking up silly ideas, and tossing them in the air to see if they can fly or not...What, oh what, will come next?

Also, I have ordered the precopy of my compilation "The Little Book of Zombie Limericks", and I simply CANNOT wait for it to show up in the mail so I can approve it! Once I have okay-ed it, I will be making it available to the public...So, hopefully very soon now! It is essentially all three volumes of my zombie limericks (you know, the ones available through my etsy shop here...), plus a sh*tload of new limericks and illustrations! Dudes, it's like 80 pages hahaha! I'm so psyched. :D
I spent all afternoon painting, it is so nice to have time for that LOL! Aside from the new jester piece, I am working on my ACEO series of women with dragons...which I really should get back to about now :)

In doing the latest updates, I was realizing that my website does need a lot of touching up and reorganizing...so that will be happening over the next few months. Goodbye sleep, hello working to the bone! ahahahahahaha...and, as you can see, the delirium has already begun to set in...
But no worries, I will be fine. I'd rather be eyeball deep in projects than bored silly.

Whew! Busy week! Not a lot of time for art, sadly, but I seem to be making great progress on some of my other projects! And, as always, I have no respite from the influx of new ideas...

Now...zombie time! So, yes, I've been at my real job pretty much all week. I am very very glad to have a job. However, I am beginning to resent ALL THE HOURS I SPEND THERE. I love my crew. I hate pizza. I hate the mall. I hate not having time/energy to do all the things I want to when I get home. I wish I could just cut sleep out of my schedule entirely; that would solve a bunch of my troubles. Except, of course, for being tired all the time.

So, first, the new art! I have been working on and off on this piece for over a week now...It's taken me virtually forever to get her done! I'm not used to taking so long on one piece, but I think she came out splendidly...
"Psychopomps" is an original 5" x 7" illustration, in acrylic paints and inks, featuring a lovely angel winged fairy and a bunch of sparrows. The title is a greek word meaning "soul guide", and sparrows happen to be one of the specific animals that help guide peoples' souls from one plane of existence to another...

What else...Oh, yes! A new product from me, through my Zazzle shop! BINDERS!! YaY! As it is nearly time for school again, I thought I'd better hop on the binder band wagon and get some made up! I have a few options to choose from- two different zombie binders, and a dragon binder! As for projects, I am in the mode of getting my zombie compilation book formatted- there are a few final touches on illustrations that need to be completed, but...hopefully I will have this baby ready to rock out before Halloween! The original deadline (yes, I do set deadlines for myself LOL!) was end of August; however, I have been at work (at my "real" job) A LOT and haven't had all the time I thought I would...But, such is life. :) I am also working on a new series of ACEOs, which may not be released until my Circus & Side Show series is complete (which may actually be the end of this month)...But, this new series is based off of one of my recent ACEOs, "Too Tired to Fly"...Here is a pic of her:
Each ACEO in the new series will have a beautiful woman and a dragon. I have them all sketched out in pencil, waiting for ink and paint :) But, first I must complete my other series LOL!! Not to mention my jester series (which is ongoing) and my poor, neglected dragon zodiac series...:( So...I suppose I better get back to the grind!

hmmm...what else...Oh! Well, I should inform you all that I have taken on a dinky part time job, on top of my first dinky part time job as a gardener, so now, magically, I am working full time on top of making art to share! This was a necessary evil, and I feel obliged to warn you that I may not be cranking out the art as fast as I was previously. I just didn't want anyone to worry about where I have gone to :) I think for now, my new art will be on the small side, mostly ACEOs and 5" x 7" illustrations, with a few larger paintings speckled in here and there when I have the time. Of course, there is always art up in both my darklingemily etsy shop and my zombietoes etsy shop to look at and purchase, and I will remain open to commissions as well. Also, this should not affect shipping in any way, and you will receive your orders as promptly as ever :)
With all the craziness, and also having a major side project in the works, I have yet to update my website galleries and news :( I am going to try *really* hard to get that done, as I have not updated since April! Oh, man...
Sorry about being lame and not posting anything for a week! :\ I've been gardening my butt off, getting ready for a craft fair, moving furniture around...Tons of random chores and errands! Ugh, just thinking about it all is making me tired! But...I did get to mall with my girlfriends, and go out for drinks this weekend, so...I did get some relaxation in :)
Unfortunately, I don't have anything brand new as far as art goes, but I do have some eBay auctions running right now that I had not posted previously...So I will update you all on those right now!
The first is an original ACEO illustration- "Over the Rainbow" is one of my new favorites! A pretty (and tasteful) nude, sitting on a fluffy cloud, under a rainbow. Let me see...I've got the latest zodiac dragon to share today, along with two new mermaids! I've been in a bit of a mermaid mood lately, if you couldn't tell! :)
First, though, allow me to unveil the "Gemini Dragon" illustration! A two headed, double winged, dual colored dragon, with big purple eyes! I'm very pleased with how this particular beast turned out- it was a bit of a challenge to put two heads on one body! A very special friend was the inspiration for the purple eyes- gothic and fantasy artisan Natalie VonRaven (who happens to be a Gemini herself)! Aside from being sleepy, I am *really* craving chocolate, and I don't have any. So...I suffer without :/ On the upside, I think the garden/yard is really starting to look decent, and is not as frustrating to deal with now. Yay!
Now, for some art...I have actually completed the latest zodiac dragon- Gemini- however, I have not listed it or posted it anywhere online yet, as I have a bunch of other art that I have not updated on :) So, I did not want to overwhelm anyone with too much art, heh heh! I have two new ACEO illustrations, and an older painting, all up for auction on eBay!

So...I am a little bit sleepy today, because I had a bit of a coffee fiasco this morning...Looking back, I'm glad that I was able, at least, to fend off a caffeine headache, but I did have to take a short afternoon nap!

So...other than the coffee incident, it was a pretty uneventful day. Went to the grocery store (woo hoo) and when I got home, I had a slew of ideas running around in my head, so I got most of those sketched out...Tomorrow, I am dog sitting and weeding gardens all afternoon, but I do have plans to get the remainder of my zodiac dragons sketched out, and then hopefully get one started for real- at the moment, I am leaning towards Gemini, as that one is already fleshed out in my journal.
