Siamese Twins ACEO, Dragon painting auction, and The Hat!

whoopsies!
I went a little longer than planned between posts here, I hope you can forgive me! So, I do not have a *ton* of art to share tonight...A new Circus & Side Show ACEO, an older dragon piece up for auction, and a brand new painting, which I am in love with...

I have to start with the new painting, because I am excited and don't want to wait LOL! This is the first piece in a new series! The new series is essentially inspired by the simple joys in life, like stupid toys (kazoos, pinwheels...) and fun stuff like hats and balloons. It would be more helpful if I had a name for this series, but it has not come to me yet (open for suggestions? sure)...I just know winter is right around the corner, and got an attack of "OMG, everything's going to be white and grey for the next six months" anxiety, and started plotting out images in color color color! But...enough blabbering, let me show you the first piece in the series- "The Hat"! She is an ORIGINAL acrylic painting, measuring 7" x 14" (long and thin) on a piece of particle board...I know, it's not the most professional base I have used, however I have a ton of them and wanted to try painting on one. I get them from work, when I have to cut up the 50 lb. blocks of cheddar cheese. Anyway..."The Hat" is available for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop, at the link below the picture:

In addition to the original painting, I have also put up posters of this painting in my zazzle shop at the link below- you can choose your size, paper/canvas type, and even get a custom frame if you like!

Now, the newest Circus & Side Show ACEO! This one is "Siamese Twins"! I know, it took me forever to get to this one! Two pretty brunette sisters, literally joined at the hip (I think)...This original 2.5" x 3.5" illustration is up for auction on eBay, with a $5 starting bid...check out the link below the picture:

I also have a *special* auction running right now...well, it is only special because I have listed it at such a low price, as I am in dire need of some wall space in my studio..."Lurking Dawn" is up for auction, with a starting bid of only $25! This is an ORIGINAL acrylic painting, on gallery wrapped canvas (12" x 16"), featuring the black silhouette of a dragon, wings stretched upwards, perched on some strange, otherworldly foliage. I would absolutely be thrilled if any of you would like to add this painting to your collection, and help me get a little wall space to work with! To see the eBay listing, just click on the link below the picture:

So, that is about all for now. I am trying to get the rest of the writings for my circus and side show series finished by next week, so that I can edit them down (which I am sure they will need badly) and then I can start on the next phase...hee hee hee! Oh, yes, and before I got...commissions are open, if anyone should be interested in having me create a person piece! The holidays are creeping up on us, you know...Also, I just need you to know that I felt a little bit dirty saying that, so don't hate me for reminding you ;)

Carousel Horse ACEO, Technology meets Fantasy Art Card, SUPER SALE, 99 cent art auctions, + an Emily comic!

Helloz!

I know, I just went a whole week without posting a blog. :\ Truth is, there really wan't much to write about...until now! LOL!
I have some new ACEO auctions listed on eBay (of course!) and also a special treat for all you comic lovers! But first, I will start with the ACEOs...

Continuing my Circus & Side Show series with "Carousel Horse"- an original ACEO illustration (2.5" x 3.5"- acrylic and inks)- the carousel is my favorite ride. I know it's not the most exciting thing, but it's the decadence of the carousel that I love more than the motion of it. This art card is up for auction on eBay, with a starting bid of just $5- to see more and perhaps even make a bid, just visit the link below...Oh, and fair warning, it only has about 2 days left to go!

The other new original ACEO I have listed is a cute little fairy, playing on her laptop (the laptop has wings!). I've titled this one "Faebook", as I spend a lot of time on Facebook...it just seemed to fit, at least in my dorky world. She is also listed at a $5 starting bid. To see more details and get your bids in, just visit the link below her picture:

"Faebook" original fairy ACEO

Also, I've put up a handful of 99 cent ACEO auctions- an assortment of fantasy/pin up/ other randomness for you all to enjoy! Again, all of my ACEO prints have starting bids of just 99 cents! A few of the current listings include "Low Tide"- a sweet art nouveau inspired mermaid, and "Semi-Sweet"- the very first pin up jester illustration I ever drew. To see all my current 99 cent art listings, check out the link below the picture:

ACEO prints at 99 cents and more

Now that you have patiently waited for me to run down my list of new art, I will share with you something funny! Occasionally, I will get the urge to draw up a comic strip (or in this case, a block) of things I find funny...These comics are probably not universally funny, but they help me deal with the idiocy I encounter in daily life. Lately, the idiocy has been rampant, so I may be doing a bunch more of these...They are not the best art in the world, just quick little sketches, but I try to get the body language as close to reality as I can...It's great therapy for me, and reminds me how important having a good sense of humor is, and also that I am not a one trick pony. So, with all that being said, I give to you...a comic:

Any questions, input, comments are welcome. I would like to expand on this comic idea, and perhaps if I get enough of them drawn up, I will put them in a hand bound book for posterity (and also for listing in one of my etsy shops, which are sorely neglected of late)...

Speaking of my etsy shop...I am having an impromptu SUPER SALE in my darklingemily etsy shop! I've dropped my original art prices *a lot*- for instance, every 5" x 7" original painting is now marked at just $10 (from $32), and every 8" x 10" original painting is marked down to $25 (from $55)!! I know, I am insane, but you know what...I need more room! It's not even funny anymore. So, yes, I implore you all to go check out this sale, here is the link:

darklingemily.etsy.com

Just type SUPER SALE into the searchbar at the top of my shop page, and it will give you all the sale listings! I will not be having this sale up for very long (I will be running it all weekend, until Sunday night, probably).
And now, I will be off to get some more odds and ends together for my many projects...Love to you all!

Loads of fun stuff- T shirts, stickers, mugs, stationery, bags, buttons, and more in my Zazzle Shop!

Dragon + Raven painting, Liquid Lavender mermaid illustration, and Witch + Dragon fantasy art!

Happy Friday!

So...I am a little bit sleepy today, because I had a bit of a coffee fiasco this morning...Looking back, I'm glad that I was able, at least, to fend off a caffeine headache, but I did have to take a short afternoon nap!

I have (surpise surprise) some new art this evening! Well, there is one new piece, and two older pieces ;)

The first piece, the brand new one, is "Dragon and Raven"- an original acrylic painting (6" x 4") on a canvas panel. I *love* the colors in this piece!! A dark purple dragon, with big, wide eyes, and feathery black wings, stares at a raven who has perched on his tail. This piece is available for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop...To see the listing, more pictures, and details about the art, please follow the link below the picture:

"Dragon and Raven" original fantasy art

Also, two new eBay auctions today! These are both older pieces, created a few years back...They are both mixed media pieces, in archival inks, Prismacolor pencils, and some acrylic paint on bristol...more details at the individual links...Each is up for auction at a $5 starting bid, with free shipping...To see more details, pictures, and even make bids, please visit the links below each picture:

"Liquid Lavender" original mermaid illustration- a blond-ish mermaid with multicolored purple scales sits in algae saturated water...

"Winged Witch" original fantasy illustration- a dark witch, with dragon wings, hangs out with two little orange dragons...

Of course, there are a bunch more auctions going on; to see them all on one page, just click here!

So...other than the coffee incident, it was a pretty uneventful day. Went to the grocery store (woo hoo) and when I got home, I had a slew of ideas running around in my head, so I got most of those sketched out...Tomorrow, I am dog sitting and weeding gardens all afternoon, but I do have plans to get the remainder of my zodiac dragons sketched out, and then hopefully get one started for real- at the moment, I am leaning towards Gemini, as that one is already fleshed out in my journal.

It is a dragon painting, titled "Brick" as he is brick colored (one of my very favorite colors!). Squee the Seahorse and Brand New Dragon Paintings!

Hi!

I have a whole bunch of new paintings tonight- most of them are dragons, though there is one new Cartoon Aquarium piece as well!

I will begin with the "odd man out"- my latest Cartoon Aquarium painting :) This is "Squee"- he is a red seahorse, super silly, and ready for a new home! To read his little blurb and see detail pictures, please follow the link below the picture:

"Squee" Cartoon Aquarium Seahorse painting

Now, on to the dragons! I have begun a sub-series of dragons in strange, otherworldy landscapes. I am calling this series "Inklings"- each background is painted before I have any inkling of which Emily dragon will have the best personality to suit it. You can look forward to lots of drips, splatters, layers, and abstractedness from this series! Allow me to unveil the first in the series- "Inkling 1- Falling Sky". This is an original 5" x 7" acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas. It is listed for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop. To read the little story I've written for this painting and see detail pictures, please follow the link below the picture:

These next two dragons are both ACEOs- I listed them the other night, so some of you may have seen them already ;)...The first is "Hunter"- a tiny flying dragon, gracefully silhouetted against a blue purple sky. This is an original acrylic painting on canvas, in ACEO format (2.5" x 3.5"). Listed at a $5 starting bid, with free shipping too- you can see more details of the art and auction at the link below the picture:

The other new ACEO I have up on eBay is a cutie! A little green dragon with big, wide eyes...very adorable. His name is "Moss", and he is an original acrylic painting on canvas. Also up with a $5 starting bid and free shipping! Check out the link below the picture:

By the end of this week, I should have some new art up in my website galleries, and also some more art to share :) At the moment, I am trying to decide on whether to watch a movie, or go back to my desk and get some more painting done...Decisions, decisions.

Raven 16, Cartoon Aquarium Urchins, + Funny Bunny ACEOs!

Hello!

So, tonight's art goodies are a bit random (though that seems to be my M.O. lately)...I've got a new addition to the Cartoon Aquarium, some new Funny Bunny ACEOs, and one more raven to share!

I know I've busted out a whole slew of raven paintings over the past few weeks- I just love the ravens, they fly right into my head and then right out again, onto canvas. It's a very seamless process, something I am quite thankful for. It's the closest I've ever come to "Art efficiency" heh heh. The hardest part is waiting for one layer to dry before starting on the next layer...
At any rate, here is the latest rave- "Raven 16" features two snuggled birds in a bare birch tree...I like this piece a lot, it seems very quiet, like a fresh-snow walk in the woods on a Tuesday morning when the rest of the world is at work or school...Ah, the quaint pleasures of having my own schedule! I'm rambling again...This piece is an original 5" x 7" acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas. It was listed for sale earlier in the day, but it has already sold! You can still see the picture here:

Next, I have a BRAND NEW Cartoon Aquarium painting! It's been awhile since my last C.A. piece, and I nearly forgot how much I love painting all the strangeness in the ocean! This round, I have a small 8" x 6" acrylic painting of three spiny urchins amongst colorful coral and seaweed. I have allowed my inner child to title this one, as I do most of them- "Three Sea Pricklies" is the name- it is available through my zombietoes etsy shop... The link is below the picture:

"Three Sea Pricklies" original Cartoon Aquarium painting

On eBay this evening I have listed the next two "Funny Bunny" ACEOs- #3 and 4! These are little original mixed media art cards (measuring 2.5" x 3.5", or landscape at 3.5" x 2.5"). They are created in archival inks and colored with acrylic paints over a scrap of vintage book page (from an old sewing manual). I made them because, well, I was feeling poopy the other day and needed to get myself out of the poop-rut. They are simply for smiling purposes. Each Funny Bunny ACEO is listed at a $5 starting bid, with free shipping! To see the latest, please follow the links below their pictures:

"Funny Bunny 3" original ACEO

"Funny Bunny 4" original ACEO

Now, I best be off to my desk- finishing up my latest jester, working on a new dragon painting, and some zombies, too!

Tonight's art is mainly ravens- I've listed a brand new piece, plus some bookmarks, and another low-starting-bid eBay auction! Also, some of my book related goodies are featured as the giveaway on The Book Faery Reviews blog!

I'll begin with the new raven painting, of course...I love this painting so much! It's titled "The Locket" and features one big raven flying off with a partially opened locket. It is a tall, thin acrylic painting, on gallery wrapped canvas- measures 10" x 24" x 1". You can see detail pictures and read the blurb I wrote for it at the listing- the link is below the picture:

And don't forget- my two year anniversary sale is still going! Many many of my original paintings are marked down until the end of this month! Plus, when you spend $10 or more, you get a free set of bird bookplates! Woo hoo!

On eBay tonight, I have relisted my original Cartoon Aquarium octopus painting "George"...He was up as a "Buy it Now" listing before, but this time I thought I'd lower the price and put him up as an auction listing :) He is up for a ten day auction, starting at just $35...with my usual free shipping! To see the auction, and perhaps place a bid, please follow the link below his photo:

I have been asked to be one of the sponsors for The Book Faery Reviews two year blog anniversary! How serendipitous- we are both two this month! At any rate, I have donated a mini set of bookplates and a lovely fairy bookmark to one lucky winner! If you'd like to check out the blog, the link is here The Book Faery Reviews.

One last piece of art before I retire to my workstation for the night- my latest jester! This is "Tiramisu Temptress"- a tasty Italian treat! I will be putting up prints of her in my darklingemily etsy shop later on this week, but for now, here she is:

Now, I am off to work work work! :D I'm getting a commission started, still mulling over stationery items and sets...and here and there I am writing random limericks ;)

NEW Raven paintings and Jellyfish Painting auction!

OOh, I have been busy painting away...Tonight, I have two new raven paintings, and an older painting up for auction at a super low starting bid!

I've picked up on my ravens series, after many months off to persue other things...But now I have two new additions to share! These are both small pieces, painted in acrylics on 5" x 7" sheets of canvas. They are slightly abstract, a little bit swirly, a little bit smokey. Each is listed in my darklingemily etsy shop, at sale price for my two year anniversary! To see them both, just follow the link below each picture:

"Raven 8" original painting

"Raven 9" original painting

I'm definitely in a bird mood, so you can bet your butt I'll be making a few more raven paintings to share!

Also tonight, I have put up one of my Cartoon Aquarium pieces for auction on eBay- "Kellie, Ellie, and Nellie" is my original cartoon jellyfish painting; I just love this one, they remind me of giggly marshmallows! Anyhoo, this is the ORIGINAL painting, measuring 11" x 14" on gallery wrapped canvas, and it is up for a very low $35 starting bid! To see the listing, and perhaps make a bid, please follow the link below the picture:

I think I have too many projects rolling around in my head again, and I'm having a hard time focusing on the task at hand, even with my dayplanner always at my side. I know it's a good thing to be so inspired, but...sleep is also a good thing; so is balance. I will have to find a way to get all my craziness in order before it all comes crashing down on top of me...Yoy!
