Didn't mean to drop off the face of the blogosphere, but...life happened. I do have some work in progress pictures of the "Dutchess" re-paint for you! Also, some MORE updates, yeesh...
So, this is the original illustration of "Dutchess":
There is ONE ACEO print of this version of "Dutchess" left, up for auction HERE on eBay! I will also be including an ACEO print of this version with the NEW PAINTING ;)
She was originally a little ACEO piece, but NOW she is becoming a large 11" x 14" painting!! Complete with my messy ink look!! A few progress shots for you:
As of this blog post, she is complete, and I should be listing her on eBay sometime in the next few days (I will have a seperate post for that!), barring any severe craziness (I may have just cursed myself there...)

Now, quick updates:
First, I have gone ahead and revamped my eBay listing template- Nothing intense, I just wanted it to look more like my website :) So, for those of you who have noticed the change, and were possibly wondering what was going on with that- yes, it is still lil ol me! We are not attaching ourselves to EBSQ anymore, which leads me into update #2:
I will be removing my art from EBSQ- it's a long and slightly poopy story, but let's just say I don't like to pay for services that are not provided, and we'll leave it at that. I will be moving over to deviantart.com- slowly...very slowly. I have decided, for reasons related to sanity, to retire MOST OF MY ART. I know, that's a LOT of art to retire. What I mean when I say "retire"- I mean, no more prints. I DO NOT MEAN relinquishing my copyrights. I do not mean throwing my art in the garbage (maybe a few pieces). I will be 'curating' the works of mine that I have chosen to NOT retire...things will be set up a bit differently. I want to organize them into "stories" or "similar voices" or...eh, it's hard to explain. So that will take a bit of thinking on my part (dang, I can't ever escape the thinking!!!) I will certainly keep you posted!!
The print set up for all my new pieces (beginning with "Fool's Blood") will also be a bit different...I've been pondering the limited edition vs open edition point. I just realized, I have probably bored you to tears with this. This is probably what I am thinking about when you are talking to me in person and I have a glazed look on my face...Or maybe I actually look like I am listening to you? I have very little idea what is going on outside my inner world, and my studio, lately. I hope that I have been decent enough to you that you would naturally have a touch of patience for me at this time :)

So, making progress on this painting- I think I have decided to call her "Fool's Blood"...at least, that is the working title. Here she is with some color in her skin:

At this point, all the base colors are in there, I just have many more layers and details to get in there...I am hoping to have her finished up by early March. Dang, that is such a long time for me!! Also, again, my apologies for the crumtastic photos :/

A new small painting- "Gossamer(maid) has swum out of my head and onto canvas for you to see! She is a small 7" x 5" piece, in lots of flowing layers of acrylic paint...there are even two jellyfish watching her explore! This piece is a bit more abstract that I usually work, but I like her. I have been sketching up a small storm of pretty ladies and other random things...Not exactly sure what I am going to do with them all...I was considering some sort of "sketch adoption" which would also be a great way to get a custom Emily piece without me actually having to go full scale commission. Hmmm...hmmm...More thinking is to be done on this subject :)

Well, I skipped last week's post entirely...:\ Got all distracted with things and stuff, you know, the usual...But I have new (and very special) art to share today! The Nurse Mermaid piece I have been talking about has been completed and listed for auction, plus I have some cute monster wallets I sewed up last week! AND MORE PILLOWS!! :D
I will start with the mermaid piece- She is titled "Nurse Mermaid" and is shown here caring for two nurse sharks! I created this piece specifically to auction off for a donation to my dear friend Becca, who had some recent and unexpected financial issues (health related). I love her SO MUCH and unfortunately am in no position other than auctioning off art to help her. And sending her lots of love and support, of course! Set of TWO mixed media fairy ACEOs
So, details are at the above link, but just for funzies, let me try to sell you...;) I had a short spell of mixed media madness last week, and made a few fantasy collage ACEOs. This is a set of TWO original fairy ACEOs, in my signature mixed media style...something I have not done in awhile! I do not foresee making a ton of these little treasures this year, so if you have wanted one, now is a good time! I used to make these all the time, but at this juncture in my "art life" I am trying out other things. But...lots of texture, color, depth, and detail in these tiny worlds! I promise, if you like fantasy art at all, these will not disappoint you. :)
And...before I go back to my desk to finish my latest painting (to see work in progress pics of it, just click HERE, and scroll down to the bottom of the page for the newest!)...The two year anniversary of my zombietoes etsy shop is next month/aka tomorrow/aka October, and I am planning a shop-wide sale to celebrate! Whew! Busy week! Not a lot of time for art, sadly, but I seem to be making great progress on some of my other projects! And, as always, I have no respite from the influx of new ideas...

Now...zombie time! So, yes, I've been at my real job pretty much all week. I am very very glad to have a job. However, I am beginning to resent ALL THE HOURS I SPEND THERE. I love my crew. I hate pizza. I hate the mall. I hate not having time/energy to do all the things I want to when I get home. I wish I could just cut sleep out of my schedule entirely; that would solve a bunch of my troubles. Except, of course, for being tired all the time.

This is gonna be a pretty lame post, because I am exhausted and have a bit of a headache. Too much sun, not enough water, too much worrying, not enough relaxing. Ah, life.

So, yes, I am not feeling 100% today. I haven't been feeling all that great for a few days now, but am trying to muddle through. I have definitely bitten off more than I can chew, so I may be kind of quiet for a bit, until I work out all my projects...At the moment, I am still working on the zombie limericks. Almost done writing, then to illustrate, format, and so forth until I am pleased with the finished product. Of course, I will still be listing regular eBay auctions, though they will mostly be ACEOs...I have no idea when I will get to my next jester,or a new zodiac dragon, or anything else for that matter...*Sigh* I need more hours in the day. I need more days in the week. I am not going to be acquiring either of those things any time soon...

I am really roasting in this humidity, and it's rather difficult to think straight. My hair is a mess, there is sweat in my eye, and no amount of cold showers and swimming in the pond is going to make it okay for me to not have AC...I try to make myself feel better by telling myself that I am doing a bit of good by not having one, but the true fact is that I am cheap and would rather suffer than pay the extra $ on my electric bill. So, I just wish for a lot of rain instead, and try to think about other things.

As usual, I am up to my eyeballs in work, but...I have gotten ALL of my illustrations 100% completed for the new zombie limericks! Woo!! Though I will never get into my head that it might be a good idea to create zombies in MODERATION, rather than working on them furiously in every spare minute I get for days at a time...It does make for some awfully strange dreams. LOL!!
Speaking of strange, I am plugging away at a bunch of ACEOs in my new circus/sideshow series. Many are still in the "pencil skritchings" stage, a few have been inked, and some even have a few layers of color. I couldn't decide which to start on first, so I am making both the circus and the sideshow, so, expect to see art ranging from carosel horses to the Fiji Mermaid, and all the weirdness in between very soon!

So, I have eighteen (YEAH!) new zombie limericks written, though I have yet to edit or illustrate them, so...it could be awhile before anyone reads them. I am also considering saving them for the compilation book, making that project their debut...However, like I said, (either way) it's a while off... This has nothing to do with anything other than my usual "biting off more than I can chew" attitude towards my creative endeavors. But this is how I seemingly never have any lapses in "inspiration"...There is always something in the work pile that will suit my mood, regardless of what that mood may be. Unfortunately, *tired* is not a mood, nor is it easy to motivate when one is sleepy...Like today LOL!! Though, after my writing frenzy, I did get started on a new (short) series of ACEOs. Since it is now approaching that disgustingly, deliriously warm and muggy weather, I have become nostalgic for the circus and the carnival...And that is what this latest series is based on! That's right, side show freaks a la Emily...You have been fairly warned. I'm not 100% sure when I will have any ready to post, but I will give the estimate of...End of this week, beginning of next. So, keep an eye out! Oh, yes, and my other, secret project is coming along slow and steady...But I'm still not telling what it is! Ha ha! Have a great week, all!

New aCEOs...These are both listed for auction on eBay, both with starting bids of just 99 cents...:) "Two Ralphie Birds" is a 2.5" x 3.5" ORIGINAL ACEO; Ralphie is one of my very favorite characters, cooked up in a sketch book session! So...I've been messing around with my endless pictures while I have my coffee in the mornings, and have created a bunch of new, fun Zazzle products! Something of interest (to me, anyway) are these photo sculpture things...Currently, there are two different ones, made from my "Sunny" mermaid illustration, as well as from my "Inkling 1- Falling Sky" painting. The coolest thing about these photo sculptures is that you can have them made in a variety of ways- magnets, ornaments, pins, wall hangings, or stand alone sculptures. I have been busting arse lately, and so far, so good...I haven't burnt out...yet! LOL! Of course, my garden is suffering *just a little bit* with all the time I have not put into it this week, however...other things must be taken care of. Nature, you are going to have to fend for yourself for a little bit, and try not to grow too many weeds in my flower bed...(sure, sure).

I am currently staring into the eyes of a 6 day work week, on top of my art projects...So, all of you who happen to have the weekend off, please ENJOY it for me!!! I will be working while hopefully writing some new zombie limericks in my head ;) It is way beyond time for volume #4...I am also considering putting ALL of the limericks and illustrations into one book...But that is still a ways off, as I would like to get some more written especially for the combined collection ;)

hmmm...what else...Oh! Well, I should inform you all that I have taken on a dinky part time job, on top of my first dinky part time job as a gardener, so now, magically, I am working full time on top of making art to share! This was a necessary evil, and I feel obliged to warn you that I may not be cranking out the art as fast as I was previously. I just didn't want anyone to worry about where I have gone to :) I think for now, my new art will be on the small side, mostly ACEOs and 5" x 7" illustrations, with a few larger paintings speckled in here and there when I have the time. Of course, there is always art up in both my darklingemily etsy shop and my zombietoes etsy shop to look at and purchase, and I will remain open to commissions as well. Also, this should not affect shipping in any way, and you will receive your orders as promptly as ever :)
With all the craziness, and also having a major side project in the works, I have yet to update my website galleries and news :( I am going to try *really* hard to get that done, as I have not updated since April!
