I did a LOT of work this week...
It's good to feel accomplished and slightly closer to 'caught up'...though that term seems to be this fantastical idealistic goal that I will never ever achieve. This is the trouble with having an overflow of imagination. I guess I should not complain...I never experience the feeling of boredom.
Blah blah!! Anyhow, I have THREE new pieces of art tonight!! Two nude ladies (which are censored for this post, but you can see the full versions at their listings) and the latest Zodiac Monster- Scorpio! I have also begun adding to the Dragon Gallery on my website, and I have some fun new things available through my Zazzle shop too!
First, a little nudity! A few pieces with color that I had sketched out last week (I was feeling listless and irritable, so sketching outdoors was very helpful)...The first is "Fancy Free" (I must admit, I do not care for the title, but it just seemed to fit, in some irritating, Lisa Frank kind of way...) Yes, lots of stuff! Too much stuff! I must confess, I have not been doing a lot of sleeping lately. Whatever, though, because I just don't feel tired. So...I managed to get the Dragon Gallery up and started with a dozen dragon pieces. I have a lot more dragons than I thought I did! At any rate, I would love it if you would take a moment to wander through the website- I realized that some of the thumbnails in the galleries were not clickable when I went live last week...so that is fixed now. One last mention of stuff before I get on with my evening (going to get the majority of this nurse mermaid finished up!)...PILLOWS!! Pillows to throw, pillows to decorate, pillows to sleep on! I have pillows (in two sizes) with my art on them available through Zazzle! They look so cool! I want them all!! Okay. Ahem. Calm down. I have most of the zombie images up, and most of the Dragon Square images as well (they lend themselves quite nicely to pillow format, who knew?) So, first, the new art! I have been working on and off on this piece for over a week now...It's taken me virtually forever to get her done! I'm not used to taking so long on one piece, but I think she came out splendidly...
"Psychopomps" is an original 5" x 7" illustration, in acrylic paints and inks, featuring a lovely angel winged fairy and a bunch of sparrows. The title is a greek word meaning "soul guide", and sparrows happen to be one of the specific animals that help guide peoples' souls from one plane of existence to another...

What else...Oh, yes! A new product from me, through my Zazzle shop! BINDERS!! YaY! As it is nearly time for school again, I thought I'd better hop on the binder band wagon and get some made up! I have a few options to choose from- two different zombie binders, and a dragon binder! And a reminder, as it is almost August 15th...and on the 15th, I will be holding my 15% off all orders sale, in my darklingemily etsy shop! As for projects, I am in the mode of getting my zombie compilation book formatted- there are a few final touches on illustrations that need to be completed, but...hopefully I will have this baby ready to rock out before Halloween! The original deadline (yes, I do set deadlines for myself LOL!) was end of August; however, I have been at work (at my "real" job) A LOT and haven't had all the time I thought I would...But, such is life. :) I am also working on a new series of ACEOs, which may not be released until my Circus & Side Show series is complete (which may actually be the end of this month)...But, this new series is based off of one of my recent ACEOs, "Too Tired to Fly"...Here is a pic of her:
Each ACEO in the new series will have a beautiful woman and a dragon. I have them all sketched out in pencil, waiting for ink and paint :) But, first I must complete my other series LOL!! Not to mention my jester series (which is ongoing) and my poor, neglected dragon zodiac series...:( So...I suppose I better get back to the grind!

I am also hard at work on the latest little books of zombie limericks; I am at the point of illustration and a bit of editing...I have not decided if I am going to release them as individual volumes, or if I will just go ahead and begn work on the compilation book...But I will keep you all posted. If you have a preference, do let me know, and I'm sure I will take it into consideration :)

hmmm...what else...Oh! Well, I should inform you all that I have taken on a dinky part time job, on top of my first dinky part time job as a gardener, so now, magically, I am working full time on top of making art to share! This was a necessary evil, and I feel obliged to warn you that I may not be cranking out the art as fast as I was previously. I just didn't want anyone to worry about where I have gone to :) I think for now, my new art will be on the small side, mostly ACEOs and 5" x 7" illustrations, with a few larger paintings speckled in here and there when I have the time. Of course, there is always art up in both my darklingemily etsy shop and my zombietoes etsy shop to look at and purchase, and I will remain open to commissions as well. Also, this should not affect shipping in any way, and you will receive your orders as promptly as ever :)
With all the craziness, and also having a major side project in the works, I have yet to update my website galleries and news :( I am going to try *really* hard to get that done, as I have not updated since April! I just spent a long time plotting out my schedule for the next few months...If I don't write it down, I tend to get lazy...so, now my life revolves around what my dayplanner says...Pathetic, I know. But at least I am using the dern planner...LOL!

Also brand new from me is this smaller fantasy painting- this one is titled "Out of the Blue" because that's pretty much where it came from (as with most of my art hee hee!). What's with all the blue, you say? Well, I have been feeling kinda blah the last two weeks, so I guess it shows in my color choice LOL! It's a good thing painting makes me feel better, or I would be up shit's creek right about now. I know things will get better, because I just have to have faith in that, but...damn, sometimes I get really impatient. It's hard work lifting one's own spirits sometimes. Once they are up, though, they usually *stay* up, but that has not been the case as of late. I suppose in my impatience, I have cultivated a bit of frustration, making me just a little bit bratty...
Of course, being an "artist", I am pulled into filtering through these strange and unweildy things called "emotions" through my creations...So, needless to say, I have been working on a lot of zombie-related items in the background. Some of which will be part of a larger project...That, of course, does not help with the impatience factor, but...Zombies always make me smile. I honestly don't know what I would do without them! And speaking of...I'd better get back to them, or they might come alive and end all my emo B.S. by turning me into one of them...but hey, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...right?
