Button + Voyeur Moon pin ups, Mermaid Pyrography art, and a new COMIC!

Greetings all!

Well, the gears are whirring away over here, too fast for my hands to keep up (what else is new?) I brought some sexy ladies, some fire art, and some funny with me :) Here, I'll show you:

Two new pin ups! One of them is nekked- "Buttons" is a pretty tattooed nude, lounging over a chair...this is just a little doodle/sketch with a splash of color thrown in. She is 7" x 5" in pencils and ink on canvas paper, and is up for auction on eBay with a starting bid of $10. To see her listing, more pictures (the uncensored ones, with nip!) and perhaps even place a bid, please follow the link below her pic:

The other pin up illustration/sketch is titled "Voyeur Moon"- a full moon watches this bright girl's every move...kinda creepy, but it's the moon, it watches everyone ;) She is also an original 5" x 7" pencil and ink illustration on canvas paper. Up for auction on ebay with the same $10 starting price. Check out more at the link below her picture, if you please:

I also have a bunch of other art auctions running, as always- small art prints starting at 99 cents, plus other originals and goodies! To see everything currently running, please click HERE!

Mermaid time! woo Hoo! I feel like it's been awhile since I've created a proper mermaid, and awhile since I've worked in an unfamiliar medium, so I thought I'd be all crazy and do both at once hah hah! I have created this mermaid- "Fynn", as I have named her- on a small panel of wood (about 2.75" x 7.25"), using a heated wand to burn her into the wood! This form of, uh, art, is called pyrography. I then gave her a light wash of blue for her skin, and darker blue for the background...and she is complete! This was just a practice piece, but! She is up for auction on my Facebook art page :) Bidding starts at $0 (though last I checked, bidding was up to $10), and you can see all the info, pictures, and even bid at the link below the picture:

Now...I have a brand new comic up! I just show these on my personal FB page, though I try to remember to share them with my art page, too :) This one is about my day job, kind of, yes. I spent a lot of time over my days off sketching up a new batch (yes, that's right, more than one!) and inking them in, so there will be more on the way! I am taking it very slow and releasing one new comic a week, so that I don't overload. Here is a link to the latest and greatest:

Em's funniez- the newest

So, that is it for now. I have been doing a LOT of plotting and planning, sketching, mapping...bookmarking, researching, note-taking. And no, I am not ready to say why. Really, it is nothing I don't normally do with my time. Let's just call it gathering for winter. But it kind of sounds more like I am preparing for an adventure of sorts...hmmm. ;)

A Sharp Dragon, plus Raspberries and Cream FB auction!

Well well, I hope you are doing well!

This is going to be a rather dragon-y post :) I thought I'd give the clowns a short break, though I am sure they will be back very very soon! I have a brand new dragon painting to share, as well as a new Facebook exclusive auction (also dragon-related!)
I know it's not a lot, but I'm trying to keep up with the posting :)

Most of my dragons are friendly creatures, though at times they can cause quite a bit of trouble, as dragons are prone to do. However, I happened to summon this angry little beastie the other day...I know he is not the most, uh, jovial creature, but perhaps you would consider adopting him just the same? This is an original 6" x 4" acrylic painting, titled "Shank". He is up for auction on eBay with a starting bid of just $15! To see the auction listing, and place a bid, please visit the link below the picture:

Now, I also have new Facebook exclusive auction running, until tomorrow night...I know it is short notice, however, it seems there are still no bids on it, so I may extend it a few more days...in the meantime, details: this is a "Raspberry and Cream" color themed auction, featuring a handful of my lovely hand made goodies- a small journal, a pouch, a fabric charm, some paper tags, and an original mixed media dragon piece! Everything matches, it is quite a pretty set of goodies! The bidding starts at $0; more specifics and info on the items and how to place a bid are at the link below the picture (on my Facebook art page):

I will have a lot more to share over the next week, but for now I have to go relax for a bit, I am feeling a little bit drained.

Four new originals- a clown, a nymph, a femme fatale, and a self portrait! Plus- PUZZLES!

Well, happy Friday everyone!
I am completely exhausted, to the point of clumsiness and stupid mistake making- it's a joy, let me tell you...
So, I have FOUR new original illustrations this week- yes, I managed 4, it's a miracle! They are just quick little sketches on canvas paper, each one created in archival inks, pencils, and acrylic paints, and measuring 5" x 7". They are all up for auction on eBay- each with a low starting bid of $10! You can see them individually at the links below the pictures, or all together HERE!

"Pris" fairy nymph art nouveau illustration

"Gun Shy" femme fatale illustration

"Scribbles" perriot clown (self portrait) fantasy illustration

Oh my GOSH PUZZLES!!! This is something I have been toying with for awhile now, researching print on demand puzzles for my images...but now Zazzle has them, and you all know how much I LOVE my Zazzle. It is kind of a stupid name to ahve to say that I love. Zazzle. Oy. But anyway...There are a few puzzles up in my Zazzle shop- dragons, cartoon aquarium critters, my "Rock Lobster" mermaid (love!) and my "One Man's Storm" wizard (also love!)...To check out all the puzzles, please visit the link below the picture:

Em's art on Puzzles!

Mmmm...how do you feel about my recently resurrected love of clowns? Is it working for you? Because I gotta say, it's awfully cathartic for me. I am so mentally frazzled lately, and I think it's because I have been very lax in my paperwork and online maintenance duties...the boss part of me has apparently gone out of town, and I don't know when she'll come back...so until then, I am just making piles and lists and mental notes...Even when I am not with the program, I still try to stay a little organized. Or maybe I am just fooling myself...only time will tell! We should know by next week LOL!

Raven 22 painting, Etsy shops sale, and A BOx of Fairy goodies!rave

Hi hi! To my US readers- I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was warm, fun, tasty, and relaxing :) And now I bring to you new art and goodies!

How do you feel about another raven piece? I have a brand new one, in purples and sheet music! "Raven 22" is an original mixed media painting- it measures 11" x 7" on masonite. This one has a bit of a creepy feel to it...I guess depending on the day and your outlook, any of my raven paintings can be creepy, or serene, or strange even...I think that is part of the reason I love them so much! Anyhoo..."Raven 22" is currently listed for auction on eBay, with a starting bid of $30! You can place a bid to own this original painting (and also read details about the piece, more photos as well) at the link below the picture:

"Raven 22" original mixed media painting

There is also a *slew* of other art up for auction on ebay- ACEO prints starting at 99 cents, and many original paintings and other pieces starting at just $15! To see all the wonderful things I have currently listed, please click HERE!

Okay, now...I am having a sale in BOTH of my etsy shops this weekend! From now until Tuesday night (that would be the 29th) you can save 35% on your entire order by entering the code TOIKEY at checkout. This code is good for either shop, or both! In addition to that, I am also running a 4x6 print sale- buy any two 4" x 6" prints, get one free! Simply place 2 in your cart and message me at checkout with the title of the third! That's THREE prints for only $6.50 (plus shipping, of course)! This is also going on in both my darklingemily etsy shop as well as my zombietoes etsy shop! I am not sure how long I will run the print sale, certainly longer than the 35% off sale...

I've been moving some of my furniture around and setting up a different space in here (just something new), and I found a whole bunch of fairy stuff I made back in the day- like, a WHOLE BUNCH. I put a good deal of it in a box, and that whole lot is currently up for auction on my Facebook art page...Bidding starts at $0! This is a random assortment of items, but they are all handmade by me with love (and of course a wee bit of crazy) Auction ends next Saturday, Dec 3rd at 11 PM (EST)!! Please click on the link below the picture for all the details and to place a bid!

Fairy Box of Goodies! a Darkling Treasures Facebook Exclusive auction

I thought I might ramble for a minute, but you know, I just do not have the energy. :( Next time, most likely...Until then...something something.

Bun Bun the Clown, Fairy Art gift boxes, ACEO cards, + rambling ;)

Hi! I know, it's been some time...but I do have some new art! Only one piece- I am slowing down a bit, will touch on that in my ramble at the end here. Though there is only one *new* piece of art, I have lots of other goodies to share!

I really need to introduce you all to "Bun Bun the Clown"- some of you may not find him quite so precious as I do...I do not have an irrational fear of clowns, or bunnies for that matter, but I can appreciate how some of you may feel otherwise. Heh heh. At an rate, "Bun Bun the Clown" is an ORIGINAL mixed media painting- 11" x 7" on masonite. Details about Bun Bun and how he was created, purchase information, and more photos can be found at the listing in my darklingemily etsy shop at the link below:

Now...For those of you who are familiar with my older mixed media fantasy art...I have a surprise for you! I am now offering special gift boxes featuring many of my mixed media images through my Zazzle shop! These are so adorable, and I find that even a printed version of my collage art brings a great deal of dimension to a flat tile surface! To check out all the gift boxes I currently have, please visit the link below the picture:

Special Fantasy Art Gift Boxes featuring Em's mixed media art!

Of course, I am still running my usual parade of art prints and originals over on eBay HERE! There are ACEO open edition prints (I try to list a few new ones each day) starting at just 99 cents, and ORIGINAL paintings and illustrations starting at just $15! This is a fantabulous place to look is you are in search of gifts (wink wink), you can get some ridiculous deals this way! Again, please visit my eBay auctions running HERE for lots of deals!

Okay, on to rambling. I am sure some of you have noticed that I have been slowing WAY down in production over the last few months. I know I have mentioned it before. Being an artist is basically like going through one phase after another, and reveling in that phase as much as possible, gleaning every ounce of knowledge and life from it, every drop of color...once you get all that, the cycle clicks over and there is a new phase to explore. That's how it has always been for me, anyhow. Not to say that it is all grand and fabulous, but I try to experience "bad things" in stride with the "good things"- and quotations because nothing is as it seems, really. Well, I think I have just entered some new and bizarre phase in my art, and thus in my life. I am unfamiliar with the landscape and will need time to get my bearings. Knowing myself as well as I do, I have decided to finally slow down a bit. Well, kind of, in a way. I guess it's more like going rogue-hermit to work on some more involved projects. Of course there will still be art, though, no worries! I just can't promise any sort of consistency in creating new art for now. Also, commissions are officially CLOSED until next year sometime, I have not decided when exactly. I have to get my poor website in order- it is half remodeled and I've put it off for far too long now...But anyway, that's me thinking out loud. Or thinking via keyboard.

xo!

Live Gargoyle + Silver Dragon Paintings, Raven prints, ++!

Oh, man...Hey...Sorry it's been so long :\

Apparenty, it's been so long I don't even know where to begin, I've just been staring at this blank screen for awhile thinking about things. I have two new dragon paintings, a bunch of auctions running on eBay, some new raven prints up in my Zazzle shop...good times!

I will begin with the dragons- two brand new original paintings! The first is "Live Gargoyle"- a big eyed dragon perched on the rooftop ledge of some unknown building, peering into the night. He is an original 4" x 6" acrylic painting (on canvas) up for auction on eBay! Bidding starts at just $15- to see more pictures, read about the art, and perhaps even place a bid to own this lovely creature, please visit the link below the picture:

I do also have a bunch of eBay auctions running- ACEO prints starting at 99 cents, 4" x 6" print sets (three per set) of some of my dragons starting at $6, and some originals starting at just $15!! To see all the art currently up for auction, please click HERE!!

The other brand new dragon painting is titled "Silver"- a grey dragon half wrapped in his wings, against a yellow-gold background...an interesting color combo...This piece is an original acrylic painting, 4" x 6" on canvas, available in my etsy shop at the link below:

"Silver" original grey dragon painting
I've also relisted a few favorite original pieces in my darklingemily etsy shop, after much debate as to whether to keep them for myself. I suppose I can just live with them until it is time for them to find their new and appropriate homes. So, if you are in the market for a colorful and strange painting for your space, do consider visiting my shop

Now, for all you raven lovers- I have put up some new print sizes and options for a selection of my raven pieces, with more to come when I can find the time! Check out all the raven-y goodness at the link below the photo:

Em's Raven Prints, Posters, and more on Zazzle!

So, the burlesque show was phenomenal! I had a blast, met a ton of great people, saw some friends, drank some drinks, took in a glorious show, and Ii am still a little tired from it, even though it was last weekend. Well, okay, I am tired from working through all of it and then...oh, haha, wait, I forgot...I jsut work all the time! Still in commission land, and...I will warn you now, I will be reworking my commission set up and pricing very soon...I may very well close down commissions for awhile. So...If you want a custom piece from me, now would be the time to squeak in! I will say that once I close commissions, I will not be reopening them again until next year. I think you have about 2 weeks to decide ;)

I know my art output has been lackluster of late...and I have no justifiable reason to apologize. I keep starting projects and then returning to commissions, and then starting more pieces, etc. It has been like tis for...weeks? a month? longer? I am not sure anymore. But hoooooo-frickin-ray for the day where I have time to paint for myself again, because I am going to bust out a lot of work. Right now, though, I am going to relax and read a little bit.

The Other Emily- a peek into the life behind the artist.

I've been meaning to post this for awhile now- this is a general look into some of the other parts of my life that art not so much about making art. Just for fun, I guess. Also, because I have no new art to post this week :\
Anyhoo, I hope you find it mildly entertaining...or something!

I generally get up every morning between 5 and 5:30 am. EVERY MORNING. If I happen to sleep in, it's never really past 8. Sad, isn't it? Around 6am I have first breakfast, consisting of coffee, some sort of food item (often cereal, sometimes a bagel), and Vitamin B. Then I check my emails, feed the cat, get my shipments all sorted out, and sometimes I list a few things on eBay/Zazzle.

"First Breakfast"

Once I get to work, I have second breakfast, usually a piece of fruit or oatmeal or if everything works out well, someone is there to cook me something tasty, but usually I get hungry again before anyone shows up.

I am most productive if I maintain a consistent state of madness in my studio...During the work week, it can get really disheveled around the desk area- paperwork, pieces, and mail to sort through and deal with. And the lists. Don't even get me started on those!

"Abandoned Desk"

Other things also escape me at times, like DOING THE DISHES! I live alone, so there is no one but Emily to blame this mess on:

"Do the Dishes!"

I work outside the studio as a prep cook for Arizona Pizza Company- I am first in every morning, must be in early to make the pizza dough! This is my "office" where I chop, cut, slice, mix, and make all sorts of edible items for our customers! I also spend a good portion of the day here screaming at inanimate machines and muttering to myself under my breath.

"Em's Office"

This is a batch of medium sized pizza dough balls, ready to roll and then flatten in the dough-flattening-machine. (I don't know what it's called for real). Depending on the level of business and time of year, I can make anywhere from 1 to 6 batches of dough a shift. We have three different sizes. It is a PAIN IN THE ASS. But...I get paid for it, and I am apparently good at it. Also, it is a good opportunity to zen out and brainstorm new pictures!

"Dough!"

I have been working in kitchens off and on (mostly ON) for...*ahem*...over ten years now. I have held assorted positions, ranging from dish-dog to manager. At this point, I am content to be a prep cook. I do it very well. At least that is what they tell me, probably just to keep me happy. Don't want to upset a girl with a knife in her hand most of the day, you know? :) But, in all the years I have been "restauranting", I have found that only two things truly matter to make my work days tolerable, even fun...Music, and a great set of coworkers. The music in this particular restaurant is hit or miss, depending on the day and who is managing. Lucky for me, I work with some really wonderful people- hilarious, entertaining, inspiring, just freakin GOOD people. I am very thankful for this, especially because they also put up with ME! I can be a real...well, bitch.

"Coworkers!"

So, I work a regular eight hour day on my feet, running, sweating, swearing, quite often crying, covered in food and grease, and I am pretty beat by the end of the weekend. YEs. I forgot to mention. I WORK EVERY WEEKEND, ALL WEEKEND LONG.

When I get home from work, though, I have this gorgeous man waiting for me:

"Buddy"

If I do not have any friends over, then I quietly spend a little down time with the kitty, check all my mails, cook some dinner, and then I sit. Mostly when I sit, it's to relax and let my brain wander a little. Sometimes I watch a movie, though there is always the danger of falling asleep about ten minutes into it. I will work on paintings or illustrations, write up ideas I had during the day, sort through sketches in my journal, slowly work on secret, never-mentioned projects that I feel may never come to fruition, catch up on odds and ends, or read, and do some stretching before bed. I try to go to bed at a reasonable hour (like 11pm) but that usually does NOT happen! And then...it starts all over again the next day!

Basically, I work all the time. You cannot see the glamor in this daily life, because I save it all up and then put it on paper, in color, to share with you. I make art as a release, and as therapy. I make art to give myself something back at the end of the day. I make art because my hands are not happy if they are not speaking for my heart. I make art because it makes me. I make art because I am Emily, and I don't know what else I would do. And...that's all I have to say about that :)

xo!
