So...I am a little bit sleepy today, because I had a bit of a coffee fiasco this morning...Looking back, I'm glad that I was able, at least, to fend off a caffeine headache, but I did have to take a short afternoon nap!
I have (surpise surprise) some new art this evening! Well, there is one new piece, and two older pieces ;)
The first piece, the brand new one, is "Dragon and Raven"- an original acrylic painting (6" x 4") on a canvas panel. I *love* the colors in this piece!! A dark purple dragon, with big, wide eyes, and feathery black wings, stares at a raven who has perched on his tail. So...other than the coffee incident, it was a pretty uneventful day. Went to the grocery store (woo hoo) and when I got home, I had a slew of ideas running around in my head, so I got most of those sketched out...Tomorrow, I am dog sitting and weeding gardens all afternoon, but I do have plans to get the remainder of my zodiac dragons sketched out, and then hopefully get one started for real- at the moment, I am leaning towards Gemini, as that one is already fleshed out in my journal.

Well, I have a small handful of new art to share with you all, plus some updates (art related, of course!) The very first Dragon Zodiac piece, a brand new mixed media ACEO, and more!
So, the very first piece in my Dragon Zodiac series is Leo. As organized as I am, I have opted to just randomly create each zodiac sign as I see fit! None of this "start with number one (Aries) and go consecutively" crap. "Leo Dragon" features a maned orange dragon, with big blue-green eyes, perched on the glyph for Leo. A lion (the token animal for Leo) and the sun (Leo's ruling planet) appear in the background...This is a larger piece for me, at 8.5" x 11" on bristol...I've decided to try out my mixed media recipe of acrylic paints, archival inks, and Prismacolor pencils (very similar components to my jester pin ups). In other news, I have updated my website galleries for this month! Lots of new images in the Fantasy Art Gallery and a few new ones in the Miscellaneous Art Gallery too! All of the new pictures are at the top of the page, and are marked "NEW" so you can find them easily! There are limited edition art prints and posters available for each image- just click on the small pictures, at it will bring you to the individual pages, where you can read about the piece, and view/purchase prints and posters. Everything purchased through my website gets shipped for free, too! There is also some fun news up on my homepage here if you would like to see what's new with some of my projects and such!
I've been spending a bunch of time in the garden lately; mostly weeding, cleaning up brush, and edging. The rose bushes are growing fast, as are the irises and of course a million lillies! Nothing has really bloomed quite yet, aside from the weeping cherry tree and the forsythias, and a few daffodils and tulips which are scattered across the lawn. Oh, yes, and tons of grape hyacinth! They just grow right out of the lawn. I didn't plant them that way, they must have been planted by my grandmother years ago, and have decided to migrate. So, it has been a little slower in the studio lately, because I know if I don't get to gardening, I'll end up with a jungle of weeds! But, I am also working on a painting commission, and the next Dragon Zodiac- Scorpio! I must admit, I am about two steps away from losing my mind, but...I just have to remind myself to breathe, and that everything will eventually even out again...

Spring!
I've got two new dragon paintings to share with you all! Plus, a reminder about my Facebook exclusive art giveaway!
Dragons first, though. :) "Ladybug Dragons" is a new original painting- I really like this one; it is sometimes difficult for me to work in red, without having it become too overwhelming in the overall piece, but I think this painting came out well :) It features two little black dragons, but instead of dragon wings, these two beasties have ladybug wings! They are hanging out in a woven patch of sunny flowers, chatting away. This is an 8" x 10" acrylic painting (on a canvas panel) and it is available for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop. I finished up the really fun painting today! I am in love with her! She's a nude dragon-vixen, with piles of skulls and an eerie yellow-orange glow behind her...I've titled her "Dremon 1", as I feel this is the beginning of a series...Right, just what i need is more series(es?) heh heh! So, not a lot of new art tonight. I'm in the process of drawing out some flipbooks, which is going to take forever and is quite tedious, but sooo worth it! The one I am currently working on is a zombie flipbook, but I have a TON of silly little ideas floating around in my head, and would love to get them all out (eventually, if my focus allows). I also got some work done on one of my graphic novel ideas today, so thank goodness for that! I feel mostly productive, even with sleeping in until 10 am like a bum with no job heh heh! Whatever, it's Saturday, right? Right.
Anyway, enough pointless rambling, I have 40 tiny illustrations to ink in, and then...Probably bedtime. Hopefully bedtime. But...we shall see.

I am afraid that my focus is not what it should be lately. I am all over the place! Too many ideas to be able to finish one with patience, without going off on some random tangent...Sometimes I wish I was not my own boss. I could really use someone around once in awhile to yell at me to get back on track. Heh heh!
But I will just have to manage on my own for now. EEE!! "Someone left Emily to her own devices...everyone watch out!"

This next batch of art is something very exciting to me, though I am not sure why, as they came from a fairly simple idea...I just really love them! They are my latest addition to my zombietoes etsy shop...Zombie ink blots! I've gone and taken the Rorschach psychology test and twisted it up a bit in my Zombie-obsessed brain; there are multiple ink blots to be seen and had! These are prints, and open edition at that, but they are somewhat subtle as far as zombie artwork goes...At first glance, they just look like, well, ink blots! I've used a bunch of silhouette zombies from my assorted illustrations/paintings, and added in a few new ones...
