Happy Friday!
So...I am a little bit sleepy today, because I had a bit of a coffee fiasco this morning...Looking back, I'm glad that I was able, at least, to fend off a caffeine headache, but I did have to take a short afternoon nap!
I have (surpise surprise) some new art this evening! Well, there is one new piece, and two older pieces ;)
The first piece, the brand new one, is "Dragon and Raven"- an original acrylic painting (6" x 4") on a canvas panel. I *love* the colors in this piece!! A dark purple dragon, with big, wide eyes, and feathery black wings, stares at a raven who has perched on his tail. This piece is available for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop...To see the listing, more pictures, and details about the art, please follow the link below the picture:

"Dragon and Raven" original fantasy art
Also, two new eBay auctions today! These are both older pieces, created a few years back...They are both mixed media pieces, in archival inks, Prismacolor pencils, and some acrylic paint on bristol...more details at the individual links...Each is up for auction at a $5 starting bid, with free shipping...To see more details, pictures, and even make bids, please visit the links below each picture:

"Liquid Lavender" original mermaid illustration- a blond-ish mermaid with multicolored purple scales sits in algae saturated water...

"Winged Witch" original fantasy illustration- a dark witch, with dragon wings, hangs out with two little orange dragons...
Of course, there are a bunch more auctions going on; to see them all on one page, just click here!
So...other than the coffee incident, it was a pretty uneventful day. Went to the grocery store (woo hoo) and when I got home, I had a slew of ideas running around in my head, so I got most of those sketched out...Tomorrow, I am dog sitting and weeding gardens all afternoon, but I do have plans to get the remainder of my zodiac dragons sketched out, and then hopefully get one started for real- at the moment, I am leaning towards Gemini, as that one is already fleshed out in my journal.

Hello all!
This is sad, but...I don't even remember the last time I posted...sometime last week I suppose. I had a very busy weekend visiting my mother, who was up from Atlanta...We took a day trip to the Salem/Marblehead area to visit with my Nana and spend some time by the sea...okay, the harbor, but close enough :) So far, May has been an awfully busy month for me, and it looks like the craziness will continue all month long, into June...Yoy! At least it's nice out, though the warm weather always makes me sleepy.
So...it's art time! I have not had a lot of time to make new pieces, however I do have two new ones to share (why is it always in twos? Who knows...) The first is a mermaid and sea dragon illustration- "Napping Sea Monster"- some of you may have been following the work in progress in my facebook album, but for those of you who haven't, she is all finished up now and listed in my darklingemily etsy shop! A bit about the piece: an original 10" x 8" illustration, in mixed media (acrylic paint, colored pencil, and archival inks on bristol) featuring a beautiful mermaid and a sleeping sea dragon in her arms! Also, a bunch of fish and two seahorses, all packed full of color. Like an underwater rainbow, I guess. To see detail pictures, read the blurb I wrote, and perhaps even purchase this fun art, please follow the link below the picture:

"Napping Sea Monster" original mermaid + dragon illustration
Also brand new, a dragon silhouette ACEO! "Out on a Limb" is an original acrylic painting on a small sheet of artist canvas (2.5" x 3.5")- a swirly, abstract purple-red-ochre background, with a black dragon silhouette perched on some strange curly vines...It is a simple piece, but I just love the challenge of working in silhouette...it is not as easy as it looks to give an image a decent outline and still have it look like what it is supposed to represent...Sometimes a pose that would look fabulous with details will just turn out to look like a black blob in this style. Blah blah blah heh heh! At any rate, this piece is up for auction on eBay, starting at just 99 cents with free shipping- to see more, please follow the link below the picture:

"Out on a Limb" original dragon silhouette ACEO
Speaking of eBay auctions...I'm still going through my cleaning phase, which means I am listing some older art for auction...Though I have sold most of my older ACEOs, there is a generous handful of (slightly) larger illustrations that I will be posting for auction this week...The first of them being my little "Monkey Woes" piece...I really love this tiny gypsy and her monkey, but it is time for them to find a new home, so...she is an original illustration- 3.5" x 5"- up for auction, starting at $5 (with free shipping)...To see her listing, visit the link below the picture:

"Monkey Woes" original gypsy fantasy art
There will be more older art going up each day this week, and into next, so if you would like to bookmark the page that displays all my eBay listings at once, here is the link: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/darklingemily
I am hoping to get myself composed enough to be able to post more often, and ramble about silliness, because I know there are those of you out there who love my art, but you have also stated you enjoy reading my random thoughts...I really don't consider myself to be all that entertaining, but of course I spend all day, every day, with me...so I may be a little biased. I do love myself, however...there are times where I can annoy the crap out of me. But...anyhoo...back to work I go!

Hi All!
I know I have been "quiet" lately; kind of been soul searching and re-evaluating things lately. Not to worry, there's nothing wrong, I'm just trying to get emotionally organized...whatever that is heh heh heh! But...at least I'm *trying*...
Tonight, two new pieces- the latest zodiac dragon (original and the first edition print) and a new mermaid ACEO which some of you may have already seen ;)
This mermaid ACEO is a new, original mixed media art card (2.5" x 3.5"). "Blue Babe" is a 2010 creation, aka new, though I did make her last week and listed her a few days ago...She still has a few days left on the virtual auction block (aka eBay).. I did start the bidding at 99 cents, (with free shipping) but it has been bid up to $3 at last check (woo hoo, breakin' the bank on this one heh heh heh!) If you are interested in fighting to give this tiny, pouty mermaid a new home, I implore you to visit the link below her picture...There you can view more detailed pictures, read the short blurb I wrote for her (along with art work details) and make your bid:

"Blue Babe" original mermaid fantasy ACEO auction
Now, for the newest zodiac dragon! "Scorpio Dragon" is the latest illustration in my astrological dragons series...I've given this dragon royal purple and maroon segmented armor (much like the scorpion next to the glyph for Scorpio)...Also featured in this piece is the ruling planet for this sign- Pluto...And I don't care what's what, I personally still consider Pluto to be a planet. Otherwise, it screws up the whole ruling planet issue. :P The original illustration is available in my darklingemily esty shop...To see the listing for the original piece, please visit the link below the picture:

"Scropio Dragon" original astrology illustration
Also available is the #1/25 limited edition art print of "Scorpio Dragon". This art print is listed for auction on eBay, starting at just $9.99 (free shipping). If you would like to make a bid on this 8" x 10" print, please visit this link:
"Scorpio Dragon" limited edition #1/25 art print auction
Other than gardening and emotionally cleaning house, I am slowly working on a mermaid illustration...it's a little bit different than my usual stuff, but I thought it was a novel idea at the time...Since I *still* think it's pretty funny, I will share with you all that it is two mermaids mudwrestling. Seeing as I have very little experience with drawing action, this should turn out...interesting. I will try to do the idea justice. Thus, I will be taking my sweet, sweet time on this one. If it turns out poorly...I'll post it, but not for sale ;) At any rate, I am off to get some work done on that :) Have a good night!

Oh you guys...
Apart from my current "climbing-out-of-a-rut" state, I have some new art to share...A brand new jester pin up, a little fairy ACEO painting, and another older collage piece, too!
First, the newest jester(ess)! I have a weak spot for all kinds of sorbet, raspberry in particular, so I thought I'd give a shout out to one of my favorite desserts with a pin up :) The title for this one is simply "Raspberry Sorbet" as I have not been feeling all that clever or witty of late...But at least it brings Prince's song to mind. She is a beautiful blond jester, sensually spooning a frozen scoop of raspberry sorbet into her mouth. She's even got a raspberry tattoo! This piece is available as 8" x 10" limited edition prints through my darklingemily etsy shop- just visit the link below her picture to see more details and such:

"Raspberry Sorbet" jester pin up art print
Also brand new- "Spring Butterflies"- and ACEO original painting! This little 2.5" x 3.5" artwork is up for auction on eBay, starting at just 99 cents (with free shipping)! To see more detailed pictures of this little fairy and her butterflies, read her blurb, and even make a bid, please visit the link below her picture:

"Spring Butterflies" original fantasy ACEO painting
And one last piece for today- this one is an older mixed media collage. "A Small Seat" features a pretty, wide eyed fairy resting on a toadstool after hours of flying around. This piece is a 5" x 7" collage, with lots of different media- feathers, paints, inks, thread, sparklie things...These mixed media pieces look lovely framed- like little windows into magical lands. She is up for auction on eBay, with a 99 cent starting bid (free shipping, too)! To see the listing, details, and make a bid, please visit the link below the picture:

"A Small Seat" fairy mixed media art
Of course there is a handful of my other art up for auction on eBay, so if you would like to see everything in one place, just click here! As far as I know, everything is still inder $5, many pieces have no bids yet, so you could get something for quite a steal!
For those of you who like to make digital tags and stuff, some of my art is now available as tubes for you to play with! Many thanks to MyTagart for allowing me the opportunity to join their wonderful selection of artists- to see what they have available as far as my art goes, please click here! :) There is also more on the way...

So, as aforementioned, I am working my way out of a bit of a funk. It is not so much an inspiration problem as a motivational one- something I am not very familiar with and prefer not to be- ever. The pictures pile up in my head and in my numerous sketch books, but I seem to be having trouble getting them generated into actual art. I am blaming the beautiful weather and my multitude of work to get done in the gardens...Lots of yardwork to do, good stuff, but tiring! But for now, I am off to motivate and get my latest dragon painting worked on a bit more- there are work in progress photos up in my album on Facebook here if you would like to come by and see :)

Happy Friday!
Well, I have gotten a good portion of the way through my website gallery updating, but I took a little break to write and post this :) Two brand new dragon pieces tonight, one "Inkling" and one ACEO...
This new ACEO is titled "Brightness"- a purple dragon with big, bright eyes, silently imploring you to smile :D Okay, yes, I am a dork. This is an original painting, measuring 2.5" x 3.5" (acrylics on canvas). "Brightness" is up for auction tonight, starting at just $5 with free shipping! To see the auction details and perhaps make a bid, please follow the link below the picture:

The other dragon painting is the next piece in my "Inkling" sub-series- "Inkling 2- Phosphorescence" features two little dragons overlooking a weird glowing light. This original painting measures 7" x 5" (also acrylics on canvas) and is listed in my darklingemily etsy shop. To see details and such, please follow the link below the picture:

Hi!
I have a whole bunch of new paintings tonight- most of them are dragons, though there is one new Cartoon Aquarium piece as well!
I will begin with the "odd man out"- my latest Cartoon Aquarium painting :) This is "Squee"- he is a red seahorse, super silly, and ready for a new home! To read his little blurb and see detail pictures, please follow the link below the picture:

"Squee" Cartoon Aquarium Seahorse painting
Now, on to the dragons! I have begun a sub-series of dragons in strange, otherworldy landscapes. I am calling this series "Inklings"- each background is painted before I have any inkling of which Emily dragon will have the best personality to suit it. You can look forward to lots of drips, splatters, layers, and abstractedness from this series! Allow me to unveil the first in the series- "Inkling 1- Falling Sky". This is an original 5" x 7" acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas. It is listed for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop. To read the little story I've written for this painting and see detail pictures, please follow the link below the picture:

"Inkling 1- Falling Sky" original dragon painting
These next two dragons are both ACEOs- I listed them the other night, so some of you may have seen them already ;)...The first is "Hunter"- a tiny flying dragon, gracefully silhouetted against a blue purple sky. This is an original acrylic painting on canvas, in ACEO format (2.5" x 3.5"). Listed at a $5 starting bid, with free shipping too- you can see more details of the art and auction at the link below the picture:

""Hunter" dragon silhouette ACEO auction
The other new ACEO I have up on eBay is a cutie! A little green dragon with big, wide eyes...very adorable. His name is "Moss", and he is an original acrylic painting on canvas. Also up with a $5 starting bid and free shipping! Check out the link below the picture:

By the end of this week, I should have some new art up in my website galleries, and also some more art to share :) At the moment, I am trying to decide on whether to watch a movie, or go back to my desk and get some more painting done...Decisions, decisions.

Good Evening!
This post won't be too long- I am super tired and ready to settle in for the night. Before I do that, I have two new dragon paintings to share!
The first new painting is titled simply "Rainbow", and features eight dragons! One in six colors of the rainbow (I left out indigo...) and two white ones! Again, this is an original acrylic painting, 12" x 9.75" on a sheet of canvas. It is up in my darklingemily etsy shop, if you would like to see detail pictures and such:

"Rainbow" original dragon painting
Also new in my darklingemily shop is a smaller original painting. "Candle Light" measures 5" x 7" (acrylic on canvas panel)- the flame of this candle is actually a tiny dragon! To see the detail pictures, please follow the link below the picture:

That's all for now. Please accept my sleepy apologies about being so unentertaining. I've been painting my butt off; later this week I will have more cool art to share!

Hello!
So, tonight's art goodies are a bit random (though that seems to be my M.O. lately)...I've got a new addition to the Cartoon Aquarium, some new Funny Bunny ACEOs, and one more raven to share!
I know I've busted out a whole slew of raven paintings over the past few weeks- I just love the ravens, they fly right into my head and then right out again, onto canvas. It's a very seamless process, something I am quite thankful for. It's the closest I've ever come to "Art efficiency" heh heh. The hardest part is waiting for one layer to dry before starting on the next layer...
At any rate, here is the latest rave- "Raven 16" features two snuggled birds in a bare birch tree...I like this piece a lot, it seems very quiet, like a fresh-snow walk in the woods on a Tuesday morning when the rest of the world is at work or school...Ah, the quaint pleasures of having my own schedule! I'm rambling again...This piece is an original 5" x 7" acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas. It was listed for sale earlier in the day, but it has already sold! You can still see the picture here:

Next, I have a BRAND NEW Cartoon Aquarium painting! It's been awhile since my last C.A. piece, and I nearly forgot how much I love painting all the strangeness in the ocean! This round, I have a small 8" x 6" acrylic painting of three spiny urchins amongst colorful coral and seaweed. I have allowed my inner child to title this one, as I do most of them- "Three Sea Pricklies" is the name- it is available through my zombietoes etsy shop... The link is below the picture:

"Three Sea Pricklies" original Cartoon Aquarium painting
On eBay this evening I have listed the next two "Funny Bunny" ACEOs- #3 and 4! These are little original mixed media art cards (measuring 2.5" x 3.5", or landscape at 3.5" x 2.5"). They are created in archival inks and colored with acrylic paints over a scrap of vintage book page (from an old sewing manual). I made them because, well, I was feeling poopy the other day and needed to get myself out of the poop-rut. They are simply for smiling purposes. Each Funny Bunny ACEO is listed at a $5 starting bid, with free shipping! To see the latest, please follow the links below their pictures:

"Funny Bunny 3" original ACEO

"Funny Bunny 4" original ACEO
Now, I best be off to my desk- finishing up my latest jester, working on a new dragon painting, and some zombies, too!

Ooh, I was almost lazy enough to not post tonight, but then thought better of it! This is pretty much the first time I've sat down all day, so, once my butt hit the chair, I was like "ooh, that's sooo nice, maybe I'll just take OOONNE more day off" but...It is not to be :)
Anyway, I have some new paintings to show off tonight, plus another eBay auction (an original dragon painting!)...
First, two new ravens! Yes, I know, it is an obsession at this point...I am sure my mind will turn to another subject soon enough, but for now..."Raven 12" and "Raven 13"! "Raven 12" is slightly different that most of the others in the series, with a more defined "blackness"- in the way of swirly Celtic-like vines! I love this raven, he's got a bit of a blue undertone to him, and the background reminds me of going camping and burning marshmallows...mmmm! At any rate, this is an original 8" x 10" acrylic painting on a canvas panel. He is up at sale price in my darklingemily etsy shop. The link is below the picture:

"Raven 12" original painting
"Raven 13" is more along the lines of most in the series- two dark birds before quite a colorful sunset. This is a smaller 5" x 7" original acrylic painting, on a canvas sheet. It is also listed at sale price until the end of the month- to see detail pictures, and perhaps even adopt it, please follow the link below the picture:

"Raven 13" original painting
While I am on the raven note, I should mention that I have made up some raven stationery and note cards- they are in my Zazzle shop, and I will be creating more stationery items with some of the other ravens this weekend :)
As far as eBay goes, I have a handful of original paintings currently listed, all at a starting bid of $35 or less! Crazy! Heh heh! Tonight's listing is also an original painting, my little "Spelunker" dragon. He's a small 6" x 8" acrylic painting, featuring a big eyed white dragon and a bunch of shady bat roommates (or cavemates, rather!). He is up for a 7 day auction, with a starting bid of just $15 and free shipping! To see the listing/make a bid, please follow the link below his picture:

"Spelunker" original dragon + bats fantasy painting

(I took a little break from typing this out to make a cup of hot chocolate; it's yummy!) On a somewhat poopy note- the super awesome zombie flip book idea that I have been working on is being *really difficult* and taking up a lot of my time and energy...After much internal struggling, I have come to the conclusion that it is not a good idea for me to continue working on this project for the time being. It was a good idea in theory; in practice, it has proven to be a great big pain in the arse. I am sad to say that I feel like a bit of a failure at not being able to overcome this challenge. It's really more a case of not *wanting* to deal with it any longer. I need to spend my time on more fruitful endeavors. With the amount of time I've spent on this stupid thing, I could have painted many, many pieces of art, or gotten a lot more work done on one of my other books. So, that being the case...i am on to other things :) Perhaps someday I will revisit this idea, hopefully with more patience and energy ;). So, until next time...

I just spent a long time plotting out my schedule for the next few months...If I don't write it down, I tend to get lazy...so, now my life revolves around what my dayplanner says...Pathetic, I know. But at least I am using the dern planner...LOL!
Anyhoo, I have some brand new paintings to show you all tonight! Finally! This first one is "Dusk"- a dusty yellow dragon perched in the trees at sundown...I really like how it turned out :) He is an original 10" x 8" acrylic painting (on a canvas panel) and he is currently being housed in my darklingemily etsy shop...Free shipping on this bad boy! Yay! To read his little blurb, see detail pictures, and perhaps even adopt him into your home, please follow the link below the photo:

"Dusk" big eye dragon fantasy art original
Also brand new from me is this smaller fantasy painting- this one is titled "Out of the Blue" because that's pretty much where it came from (as with most of my art hee hee!). This is a smaller piece, at 5" x 7", and features a light blue speckled dragon that this cute-but-shadowy angel girl has conjured up...I wish I could just conjure up dragons out of nowhere, for realsies, but I will have to settle for just painting them, I suppose :)
This new painting is up for auction on eBay tonight, starting at a stupid-low bid of $15, with free shipping, too! To see the details and read the little story, please follow the link below the picture:

"Out of the Blue" Original Angel and Dragon big eye art
What's with all the blue, you say? Well, I have been feeling kinda blah the last two weeks, so I guess it shows in my color choice LOL! It's a good thing painting makes me feel better, or I would be up shit's creek right about now. I know things will get better, because I just have to have faith in that, but...damn, sometimes I get really impatient. It's hard work lifting one's own spirits sometimes. Once they are up, though, they usually *stay* up, but that has not been the case as of late. I suppose in my impatience, I have cultivated a bit of frustration, making me just a little bit bratty...
Of course, being an "artist", I am pulled into filtering through these strange and unweildy things called "emotions" through my creations...So, needless to say, I have been working on a lot of zombie-related items in the background. Some of which will be part of a larger project...That, of course, does not help with the impatience factor, but...Zombies always make me smile. I honestly don't know what I would do without them! And speaking of...I'd better get back to them, or they might come alive and end all my emo B.S. by turning me into one of them...but hey, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...right?
xo!
