I am still working on my Red Velvet Cake pin up jester. She is nearly complete, and I may just finish her up tonight after I get all my computer work done...Though, I do have a few new work in progress pictures up in my Facebook album HERE if you are curious ;) She's very pretty! And I think the next jester will be a candy apple themed piece...I just absolutely love apples. Delish.
n other news, I've been having numerous creative epiphanies...It's all I can do to get them written down until I have the time to sort through them, edit, decide whether or not they are worthy of my time, and get them moving...A lot of them are rather involved projects, and since I am already working on one of those, the others will have to just live in my journals until I can get to them. Such is the paradox of being an artist...When you have the time, often the ideas are fleeting. When you have no time, they tumble down on you like there are a bunch of angry squirrels shaking the acorns out of the trees.
This is why I wrote everything down now ;) So, even if there is not any perceptible inspiration, I still have plenty of ideas... Here are a few things that are brewing in my brain:
- stationery sets
- hardcover journals and day planners featuring my art
- another FB giveaway
- a vehicle for my circus & side show series...short stories? I dunno...
So, yes, though I have been quiet online lately, I am still my crazy self, cooking up silly ideas, and tossing them in the air to see if they can fly or not...What, oh what, will come next?

Now, on to other things...I am currently working on my latest jester pin up illustration :) FINALLY! I feel like it's been forever, though in reality it has been but a few weeks. Also, I have ordered the precopy of my compilation "The Little Book of Zombie Limericks", and I simply CANNOT wait for it to show up in the mail so I can approve it! Once I have okay-ed it, I will be making it available to the public...So, hopefully very soon now! It is essentially all three volumes of my zombie limericks (you know, the ones available through my etsy shop here...), plus a sh*tload of new limericks and illustrations! Dudes, it's like 80 pages hahaha! I'm so psyched. :D
I spent all afternoon painting, it is so nice to have time for that LOL! Aside from the new jester piece, I am working on my ACEO series of women with dragons...which I really should get back to about now :)

Whoa...
It's been a rather weird day for me...started off in a not-so-good way, then progressed to minor frustrations, exhaustion, and near defeat, then to major incredulity and joy...I have to admit, I am pooped out and it's only 10pm! I still have to eat dinner, and do the dishes. At this point I am asking myself where in the heck my helper monkey is? Oh, right, I never did get around to acquiring one...Dang it!

So...I had an OMG moment when I checked my email after a long and slightly horrid day at work :) Awhile back, I had been contacted by someone from a project called the Poet's House Showcase, asking for a set of my "Little Books of Zombie Limericks" to put on display with a TON of other poetry books (all self published, by various artists/authors)...Well, the New York Times wrote a short article on the showcase, and they mentioned my silly little books! I am 100% floored. I cannot even begin to describe it. I might be walking around the whole rest of this week with my mouth agape in astonishment. I may not sleep much. I might laugh for no apparent reason. Freakin' WOW! Normally, I am not one to brag about things, especially one line shout outs, but I feel justified this time, because it's the NEW YORK TIMES!!! So, I have eighteen (YEAH!) new zombie limericks written, though I have yet to edit or illustrate them, so...it could be awhile before anyone reads them. I am also considering saving them for the compilation book, making that project their debut...However, like I said, (either way) it's a while off... This has nothing to do with anything other than my usual "biting off more than I can chew" attitude towards my creative endeavors. But this is how I seemingly never have any lapses in "inspiration"...There is always something in the work pile that will suit my mood, regardless of what that mood may be. Unfortunately, *tired* is not a mood, nor is it easy to motivate when one is sleepy...Like today LOL!! Though, after my writing frenzy, I did get started on a new (short) series of ACEOs. Since it is now approaching that disgustingly, deliriously warm and muggy weather, I have become nostalgic for the circus and the carnival...And that is what this latest series is based on! That's right, side show freaks a la Emily...You have been fairly warned. I'm not 100% sure when I will have any ready to post, but I will give the estimate of...End of this week, beginning of next. So, keep an eye out! Oh, yes, and my other, secret project is coming along slow and steady...But I'm still not telling what it is! Ha ha! Have a great week, all!

It's rather late in my neck of the woods...Well, it's late for me to be tinkering around online and posting stuff, but I'm not all that tired. Also, this post is partially an excuse to put off starting another project. Not that I don't *want* to create, I almost ALWAYS want to, but I am quite sure the focus just isn't there. Lately I have been trying to be mindful of not putting paint to canvas if I know I won;t give it the attention it deserves, in the hopes that I will begin to make more quality art and less mindless crap. Though I suppose that is a point of opinion and taste.

I am blaming the beautiful weather and my multitude of work to get done in the gardens...Lots of yardwork to do, good stuff, but tiring! I did not care for it when I first started it, but with enough layers of paint, I have come to like it very much. :) I call it "A Bad Approach"- it is an original acrylic painting, measuring 10" x 7" on a sheet of canvas. Tonight's art is mainly ravens- I've listed a brand new piece, plus some bookmarks, and another low-starting-bid eBay auction! Also, some of my book related goodies are featured as the giveaway on The Book Faery Reviews blog!
I'll begin with the new raven painting, of course...I love this painting so much! It's titled "The Locket" and features one big raven flying off with a partially opened locket. It is a tall, thin acrylic painting, on gallery wrapped canvas- measures 10" x 24" x 1". You can see detail pictures and read the blurb I wrote for it at the listing- the link is below the picture:

I have two angry dragons and a jester to show you tonight! woo woo! So I suppose I will just go ahead and do that...:)
First, I've put up this original ACEO painting on eBay- auction starts at just $5, with free shipping! His name is "Shrieker" and he ain't no nice guy LOL! I like this one, it's got a rather hardcore feel to it...Look at him up there in the angry sky, screaming and screaming...

Next, the other angry dragon (can you tell I was a bit crabby?) This one is at least a little less mean- "Along the Watchtower" is an original 7" x 5" acrylic painting, featuring a glowering little orange dragon looking out from a watchtower ledge...You may visit him in my darklingemily etsy shop to read the blurb I wrote for him, and maybe take him home with you...I promise he'll behave himself!

Last piece of art for the night-"Mangolomaniac" is my latest jester pin up, and she is just beautiful! She's dressed in a somewhat royal-feeling blue and gold suit, with yellow-green eyes to match the mangoes in the picture...Mangoes are my favorite fruit, and aside from chocolate, my favorite food! Like a little piece of heaven...I know it's dorky, but...I am a bit obsessed with them, hence the title of this piece! She is not yet listed on my website or in my etsy shop, though I will have prints of her available shortly. In the meantime, if you would like a limited edition art print of her (8" x 10" $16.00, free shipping) please feel free to email me and I will get one to you!

So, that's all for art tonight :) I know I have not been all that entertaining lately, I have been seriously hibernating and thinking up new awesomeness to bring out of my head...I went to take a short nap today (something I very rarely do, but it was raining and grey) and instead of resting, my mind came up with a bunch of ideas that I am pretty psyched about...So, I will be staying up late to A) watch wrestling and B) get some of these new ideas written and sketched out in my book...:D And...off I go!
