And one more merch-type thing before I get to my ramblings...I had ordered myself a sterling silver necklace from Zazzle when they were on sale over the holidays...I have recently received said necklace in the mail, and OMG I LOVE IT!! It features a never before seen Ralphie painting :) and is a quality piece of jewelry. The pendant is heavy, and a little bigger than I had envisioned it to be when I ordered it, and it feels wonderful to wear. Very comforting. Here's a pic of my new Ralphie necklace:

So, yes, I am slowly getting work done. Art is being made, and Emily is attempting to resume her usual lifestyle and schedule after the holidays. I have plans to get back to working on my dragon zodiac series, a few new jesters, and a bajillion other things that I may or may not get to in the near future...Yep. Things are getting back to where they should be LOL! Anyhoo...stay safe and don't so anything I wouldn't do...

Happy Holidays and a quick update... :)

Merry Holidays from Emily Grinch!

So...I've been stressing and working and stressing, but it is pretty much over now...I think...except for the working part, which will never, ever end LOL! I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and fabulous holiday!!





Unfortunately, I do not have any new finished art to share, that is how busy I have been! But, if you are interested in checking out what I am currently (and very slowly) working on, there are work in progress photos in my Facebook album HERE! Hopefully I will have something to show for myself very soon.


So, the game plan for the next few weeks is basically this- I am taking a pseudo-break. I need it. Bad. I will be listing originals and prints on eBay, and both my etsy shops will remain open. I will be here to ship out orders and answer emails, and will probably do a fair amount of Facebooking (because I am an addict LOL!)...However, I cannot promise any consistency with blog posts or new etsy listings for a bit. I will, of course, still be making art; I have plans to get some writing done as well. I need to get my Circus & Side Show book stuff in order and quit slacking! Not to mention the poor, neglected, and probably slightly angry "secret project"...

The View From November fantasy painting, Zombie art auction, Website Updates, + Happy Thanksgiving!

Holy crap...

I've been staring at this stupid computer screen nearly all day, I can barely take it anymore! LOL! But I wanted to leave you all with a blog post before the holiday ;) Besides, I have a brand new painting to show off, and a special zombie original painting auction, too! And, as you may have surmised form the title of this post, plus my crabbing, I have also managed to update my website...


So, this latest painting is part of my "Little Things" series (yeah, I broke down and just decided to call it that, harumph.) This piece is "The View From November" and features a beautiful dark haired lady with a monocle-type device...a tiny owl is nestled on her hair comb, and the bare November trees are wailing...I really love this piece, I hope she finds a good home! This is an original 8" x 10" acrylic painting on a canvas panel; wire hanger on the back. The other brand new ACEO I have up on eBay is called "Faery Hide and Seek"- one of my favorite childhood games...When I was a teen, all the neighborhood kids would get together at night, with their flashlights, and we would disperse throughout the neighborhood...Of course, we called it Manhunt then, which is way cooler. Among other projects, I am currently working on a new painting in my new series about "the little fun things in life"- this one has a girl in a polka dot dress, a pinwheel, and a winged elephant on a cloud! So, yes, not a whole heck of a lot to share, as far as art goes. I am trying to get the rest of these short prose blurb things written for my Circus & Side Show pieces so I can compile them into a picture book of sorts. Apparently, I am having a hard time wriggling into my writer's suit lately. I just can't sit still and listen to the words in my head. My fingers just want to paint and draw, and my brain is coming up with erroneous things for me to do. So, it is a focus issue, I suppose, and I do not have 100% energy right now, so I can't just will myself to do it, like I normally do.

I really hate being sick, and I am a huge baby about it, because it is so rare that it happens (lucky me!)...I can't breathe, I can't sleep, I can't taste my food or even think straight, it sucks. So, the other day, while I was working, I had this idea that I would try the wings challenge we have at work. Cuz the wings are wicked spicy hey. The challenge is essentially 12 wings in 4 minutes, lick all your fingers, and wait another minute. But, I am telling you, the sauce is ridunculous. I know there's a lot of ghost chili in it. I don't know what else is in there because it really doesn't matter. So anyhoo, I took the challenge, and failed miserably...but I could breathe for the whole rest of the night and the next morning. And somewhere out there is a really stupid picture of me flailing with hot sauce all over my hands and mouth.

And now it is getting late, so I'm gonna sneak in a few more layers on my painting and then get some sleep!

Siamese Twins ACEO, Dragon painting auction, and The Hat!

whoopsies!
I went a little longer than planned between posts here, I hope you can forgive me! So, I do not have a *ton* of art to share tonight...A new Circus & Side Show ACEO, an older dragon piece up for auction, and a brand new painting, which I am in love with...

I have to start with the new painting, because I am excited and don't want to wait LOL! This is the first piece in a new series! The new series is essentially inspired by the simple joys in life, like stupid toys (kazoos, pinwheels...) and fun stuff like hats and balloons. It would be more helpful if I had a name for this series, but it has not come to me yet (open for suggestions? sure)...I just know winter is right around the corner, and got an attack of "OMG, everything's going to be white and grey for the next six months" anxiety, and started plotting out images in color color color! But...enough blabbering, let me show you the first piece in the series- "The Hat"! She is an ORIGINAL acrylic painting, measuring 7" x 14" (long and thin) on a piece of particle board...I know, it's not the most professional base I have used, however I have a ton of them and wanted to try painting on one. I get them from work, when I have to cut up the 50 lb. blocks of cheddar cheese. Anyway..."The Hat" is available for purchase in my darklingemily etsy shop, at the link below the picture:

Now, the newest Circus & Side Show ACEO! This one is "Siamese Twins"! I know, it took me forever to get to this one! Two pretty brunette sisters, literally joined at the hip (I think)...This original 2.5" x 3.5" illustration is up for auction on eBay, with a $5 starting bid...check out the link below the picture:

This is an ORIGINAL acrylic painting, on gallery wrapped canvas (12" x 16"), featuring the black silhouette of a dragon, wings stretched upwards, perched on some strange, otherworldly foliage. I am trying to get the rest of the writings for my circus and side show series finished by next week, so that I can edit them down (which I am sure they will need badly) and then I can start on the next phase...hee hee hee! The holidays are creeping up on us, you know...Also, I just need you to know that I felt a little bit dirty saying that, so don't hate me for reminding you ;)
